Your experience as a commander will enable you to hone and develop a comprehensive set of transferable skills that will serve you well beyond your retirement, at age 50. With a deliberate and elaborate route of advancement, you can expect your knowledge and skills to be further refined and enriched.

CAREER PROGRESSIONAs part of Our Army's commitment towards developing and nurturing our leaders, you will be groomed to take on the Company Commander appointment within your first ten years. During which, you may pursue your degree either on a full-time or part-time basis. Upon completing your Company Command tour, you can opt to specialise as a Specialist Officer and alternate between your chosen vocation and a specific organisational specialisation (e.g. Human Resource Management, Systems Development, Intelligence, Operations and Logistics).

SAVINGS AND EMPLOYEE RETIREMENT PLAN (SAVER)SAVER provides a plan to save with additional premiums during your service. On top of a monthly salary, MINDEF makes contributions based on a certain percentage of the Officers' salary into SAVER accounts.CPF Top-up AccountA portion of your CPF contributions will be deposited into this account, which is invested under the SAVER-PREMIUM Fund. The monies and returns accumulated will be credited back to your CPF Account upon completion of your service.Savings AccountIn addition to your salary, funds will be deposited into this account during the first 10 years of your service. You may use the funds from the 7th year onwards. The amount that can be withdrawn will depend on the length of your service. This account helps build up your savings during your mid-career. You may be eligible for a Full Savings Vesting Bonus (FSVB) of up to 5 months of your last drawn salary at the end of your 10th SAVER year.Retirement AccountFunds will be deposited into this tax-free account from your 7th year of service till the end of your military career. This will provide you with extra financial comfort and security when you retire or transit into your second career.SAVER BonusYou will receive a 6-month SAVER bonus of your gross salary at the end of your 6th SAVER year.

POST-RETIREMENT MEDICAL INSURANCE (PRMI)Post-Retirement Medical Insurance will be given to personnel in selected vocations who retire at age 45 onwards, with at least 10 years of reckonable service. It provides cover from the day of retirement till the age of 60.

FLEXIBLE BENEFIT SYSTEM (FLEX)We recognise that every individual has unique needs, so you will be able to use FLEX credits to pay for a diverse range of life's needs.

Stage 1: 600 credits per year (6th year in service or less)Stage 2: 800 credits per year (7th to 11th year in service)Stage 3: 1,000 credits per year (more than 12 years in service)
