The entire12 MBof RAMwillnot be available to you becausethememory isnot continuous. TheSLM60Sand 804printers require that you useST RAMinorder to print to them. SLMpri nters alsorequire 4MBof ST RAMto print a page. You must have theDiablo emulator loaded and usetheDlAB804.PRTdriver.(You can al so try the SLM804.PRTdriver, but thiswillnot work with allSLMprinters.) Startup options (Amiga only) TooltypeNameOptions TOOLBOXleftlright PageStream for Amiga can be run fromthe Workbench or command line shell. If yourunitfromthe Workbench, you can change its tooltypesto set startup options, and if you start if from a shell you can use arguments for options. To set a tooltype, select thePageStream2 programicon and then choose the Workbench's Information (AmigaDOS2.0 or greater) or Info (AmigaDOS1.3) command. The Information dialog box willopen.Select the tool type to change, or click on Add to create a new one. The available tooltypes are: DescriptionExample choose whether thetoolboxshouldbe ontheleft or rightTOOLBOX=left SCREENcustomlworkbenchchoose theWorkbench or a custom screenSCREEN=custom INTERLACEyeslnochoosewhether a custom screen shouldbeinterlacedINTERLACE=yes COLORS2141811613216411281256choose thenumber of colors fora custom screenCOLORS=16 O Icons for saved documentswillbe created if PageStream is started fromthe Work-benchicon. Theywillnot be created if PageStream isstarted froma shell. O Highresolution custom screens providetwiceasmany pixels asother screens,so youshould set Interlaced toYesif it isusablewith your monitor. Argument NameOptions TOOLBOX The INTERLACEand COLORStooltype can only be used if the SCREENisset to CUSTOM.Use the Workbench screen when youwant PageStream toopen on top of your Workbench icons and programs. Use a custom screen when youwant PageStream to open on an uncluttered screen or when youwant to control the screen type.(The latter usesmore memory.) If youwant a high resolution custom screen, set theINTERLACEtooltype toYES(even if youhave an AGA computer). This maynot be suitable for your monitor. If itisnot, set itto NO. Pre-AGAcomputers (ex:A500,A600, A2000 ... ) are limited toa maximum of sixteen screen colors. AGAcomputers (ex:A1200, A4000) can use up to256 screen colors. The more colors youuse, the slower PageStream's displaywill update, but the better color documents willlook.PageStream2 always displays bitmapped pictures inblack and white,so the only advantage to more colors is for text and drawings.Four colors isthe best mode for most users. If youprefer to use a command line shell, the arguments are: DescriptionExample set thetoolboxtotheleft(right isthe default)-I SCREENwchoosethe Workbench(custom screenisthe default)-w INTERLACEnset non-interlacedmode(interlaced isthedefault)-n COLORS2141811613216411281256set thenumber of colors (4isthe default)-16 Installation andStartup5 Setting paths File Path Documents Text Graphics Fonts Drivers 6PageStream2 User Manual PageStream 2.2 allows you to set the paths (location of files)for five types of fi les. This driver renders the page to an IFF ILBMpicture. Many more drivers than are listed here willbe present in your Printers direc-tory. The drivers listed here are the most common, but drivers for other printers do exist. Almost allprinters are compatible with one of the provided drivers.A few newer printers, such asthe Fargo Primera, must be used with the Preference driver (if you have an Amiga) because a custom driver doesnot exist.Other newer printers, such asthe Epson Stylus Color, can be used at a lower resolu-tion with a custom driver, but require a Preference driver to beused at full resolution. Soft-Logik Publishing provides a wide assortment of custom printer drivers with PageStream 2.2,but does not provide AmigaDos Preference drivers. If you have a printer which is capable of printing inboth PostScript and HP PCL modes, you should choose the PostScript driver for faster printing. If you are printing in color to a PostScript printer, or rendering a color IFF ILBM file, youmust type the word "color" without the quotes into the Special text fieldin the Set Printer dialog box.
