order to maintain unrestricted deep draft commercial navigation in a dredging project that

covers approximately 90 miles from Hampton Roads, VA to Richmond, VA. Thisproject will be maintained annually at different locations. In fact, higher than normal

shoaling in this channel recently forced the Virginia Pilots Association to impose a draftrestriction on vessels transiting these waters.

I am also requesting the following bill language be inserted into the FY2009 Energy and

Water Appropriations bill, Funds in the amount of 1,763,000 are provided to completethe James River Terminal Turning Basin, James River, Virginia navigation project. I

I am requesting funding for the James River Channel. The entity to receive funding forthis project is the Port of Richmond, Virginia located at 5000 Deepwater Terminal Rd

Richmond, VA 23234. The funding will be used by the Corps to dredge various shoals in

order to maintain unrestricted deep draft commercial navigation in a dredging project that

covers approximately 90 miles from Hampton Roads, VA to Richmond, VA. Thisproject will be maintained annually at different locations. In fact, higher than normal

shoaling in this channel recently forced the Virginia Pilots Association to impose a draftrestriction on vessels transiting these waters. I certify that I have no financial interest in
