“RECENT HURRICANE COLLECTIONS”

I am delighted to

report that we raised a total of $11,468.00 in our two recent special collections for those affected by Hurricane Harvey ($5,900.00) and Hurricane Irma ($5,568.00). The monies are being sent to the Catholic Charities in the affected areas as our way of extending our loving concern for the people having to rebuild their lives at this time. We are planning to take a special collection for those affected by Hurricane Maria, especially, Puerto Rico, whose people suffered the most devastation. LAS VEGAS MASSACRE We are all deeply

saddened by the news of the senseless massacre of the 59 people killed (number at this writing) and the over 500 injured in the mass shooting in Las Vegas last Sunday evening. In addition to these victims there are the many thousands who were able to escape but were traumatized as they ran for safety. Lord, be our and their peace at this time.

WORDS OF THANKS FOR OUR ANNUAL “BLUE MASS” I wish to express my gratitude to all those who assisted in making this year’s “Annual Blue Mass” the wonderful tribute it was for all police officers, firefighters and other first responders. A partial list includes: our “Blue Mass” Committee, Dcn. Frank McGuiness who preached at our Mass, Alfred Allongo and the Adult Choir for providing the Music at the Mass, our other liturgical ministers, the Nassau County Police Emerald Society Pipe and Drums for playing at the service afterwards, “Flowers by Edward” for providing the “Blue Ribbons” that adorned our property, the Knights of Columbus for supplying water, Family Ministry for coordinating the refreshments afterwards and Tom Galvin, our Facility Manager, and Mark Antonucci for the set-up of the outdoor sound system and tent. It is our profound pleasure and joy to honor all of our men and women in “Blue” who serve us so generously each and every day. Know that we truly appreciate all that you do for us. God bless you all!
