Student Absence Procedures All absences will be considered as unauthorised unless the school is informed accurately as to the reason for absence. Sickness: • If you are ill you must ring the sick line each day and leave a message on the answerphone on 01270 871122 or email on [email protected] before 9.30am. • For periods longer than five days you must provide a medical certificate. Authorised Absence • You need to advise your Tutor at least two days before your absence and ensure your absence has been approved. • Documentary evidence of the above must be provided for your Tutor’s scrutiny. • In the case of an emergency, such as family bereavement, a phone call in the first instance is acceptable followed by a note from Parent/Guardian. • Students should not be taken out of school for holidays during term time in the Sixth Form. Such absences will affect their progress and preparation for public examinations. Lateness If you are late for morning school or registration you must sign in with the Sixth Form Learning Manager in the Sixth Form Office. School Counselling Service Bev Daniel provides a counselling service for all the students within the Alsager EIP/Trust. She works with children who are experiencing a variety of issues including family breakdown, bullying, friendship problems, self-harm, bereavement, low self-esteem and more. To request help from Bev ask for a referral by your tutor or the Sixth Form Office. There is also a weekly ‘Drop-In’ service for students who want a quick chat without the formality of a full counselling session. Bev can be contacted direct on [email protected] .
