Mena Police Chief Brandon Martin said that there is a city ordinance that does not allow fi reworks to be set off within the city limits. Offi cials encourage the public to take advantage of the many professional fi reworks exhibitions scheduled throughout the county. Polk County Sheriff Mike Godfrey said that fi reworks are allowed within the County. He asks that: Citizens be respectful to those around them; Do not pop fi reworks within the vicinity of a fi reworks show. Do not pop fi reworks too late; It is a safety concern.Pop them in a safe manner; Have a safe and happy 4th.
