Neil Cole : November 2019

1: Using an HB. Sketching the basic head shape. Draw construction lines to help you keep things symmetrical and balanced. Press lightly!

2: Build up the facial features. Copy carefully...look at the angle of the eyebrows….this makes him frown and look ‘evil’!

3: Continuing to build up the face. Adding shadows to the nose and around the eyes. Don’t press to hard we will go over some of these shadows with coloured pencil later.

4: Adding ears and hair….and more shading detail….

5: INKING. Go over your key lines with fine-liner. Look carefully to see which lines I have chosen to ink in and those that I leave alone!

3: Cover all your HB shadow with cream coloured pencil. Graduate edges.

5: In areas that will be a little darker (like around the eyes and lower chin & neck) apply some darker green. Graduate edges.

4: Now shade over all the same shadows with your light green pencil. Graduate edges.

6: Now shade lightly over all the same shadows with your black pencil. Graduate edges.

7: Final steps. Darken round the eyes with your black pencil. Use your greens and black pencils to lightly shade around the edges of the whites of the eyes– graduate edges carefully!
