MICRO CRYSTALLINE CELLULOSE

Microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) is a term for refined wood

pulp and is used as a texturizer, an anti-caking agent, a fat

substitute, an emulsifier, an extender, and a bulking agent in

food production.[1] The most common form is used in

vitamin supplements or tablets.

A naturally occurring polymer, it is composed of glucose units

connected by a 1-4 beta glycosidic bond. These linear cellulose

chains are bundled together as microfibril spiralled together in the

walls of plant cell. Each microfibril exhibits a high degree of three-

dimensional internal bonding resulting in a crystalline structure

that is insoluble in water and resistant to reagents. There are,

however, relatively weak segments of the microfibril with weaker

internal bonding. These are called amorphous regions; some

argue that they are more accurately called dislocations, because

of the single-phase structure of microfibrils. The crystalline region

is isolated to produce microcrystalline cellulose.

Padmashree

1) Direct Compression

2) Wet Granulation

1) It has larger particle size hence improves the flow

1) Contains low moisture, ideal for moisture sensitive materials

1) Larger particle size increases flowability with minimum effect on

compression characteristics

2) Ideal for Direct Compression and wet granulation improves content

uniformity

Croscarmellose Sodium

IP/BP/USP/EP It is a white/greyish white powder, free from black

particles and is used as a tablet disintegrator. Its

superiority lies in its unique chemistry. The cross-

linking characteristic of this substance makes it highly

absorbent, insoluble and hydrophilic in nature, which

results in excellent swelling properties

Application: • Cross-linking reduces water solubility

• Superior Tablet Disintegration

• Used in both Wet Granulation and Direct Compression

• Distinct advantages over other Tablet Disintegrators

• Effective even at low use levels

• Superior long-term Dissolution Stability

• Insensitive to Tablet Hardness

Features

Carboxy Methyl

Cellulose Calcium

IP/BP/USP/JP/EP White to yellowish white in color, free from black particles,

CMC Calcium is a divalent ion which renders the end product

insoluble in water while also having high swelling property. It

is a preferred super disintegrate for many industries.

Applications • Used where sodium is not preferred

• Used as Disintegrating Agent in tablet form

• Water Binding Agent & Stabilizer

Features

NON-ALLERGIC NON-TOXIC

ODORLESS TASTELESS

Sodium Starch

Glycolate IP/BP/ USP/EP Sodium Starch Glycolate is a derivative of starch, and is used

for its stability and disintegration properties. It is white in

color&free from black particles. It is prepared from Maize &

Potato Starch.

Applications • Used as a Disintegrate, a Suspending Agent and as a

Gelling Agent.

Features

Sodium Carboxymethyl

Cellulose IP/BP/USP/EP

Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) is odorless, free from

black particles, and its color varies from white to almost white.

To manufacture it, cellulose acquired from wood pulp/Cotton

Pulpis soaked in sodium hydroxide solution, to form an alkali

cellulose, which is then reacted with M.C.A or S.M.C.A. This

reaction is called etherification, leading to the conversion of

cellulose into sodium CMC.

Application • Used as Binding Agent

• Used as Suspending Agent

• Thickening Agent

• Stabilizer

• Ultra-low viscosity to extra high viscosity as desired by market.

• Emulsifying agent

Features

NON-ALLERGIC NON-TOXIC

Magnesium Stearate

IP/BP/USP/EP

Magnesium Stearate is the magnesium salt of Stearic

Acid. Magnesium Stearate is a white color powder, free

from black particles.

Applications • Acts as Lubricating Agent in tablet manufacturing

• As a Stabilizer and Lubricant for pharma & food industries

• Emulsifying Agent in Cosmetics

Features

Pregelatinized Starch

IP/BP/USP/EP Starches are typically derived from corn or potato. These are used in

the pharmaceutical and food manufacturing industry for a variety of

applications. Pregelatinized starch is a white color powder, free from

black particles.

Applications

• Acts as a tablet and capsule diluent

• Acts as a disintegrator – Tablets and capsules break down into smaller

fragments/dissolves so that the drugcan be released for absorption.

Starch also absorbs water rapidly, allowing appropriate disintegration of

tablets.

• Used as a glidant or binder

• Works as a food thickener/stabilizer

• Pregelatinizedcorn starch is specifically used in instant puddings, pie

fillings, soup mixes, salad dressings, candies.
