NEWSLETTER ISSUE No. 5 5th April 2018
First term has certainly gone past very quickly. This term, in addition to our regular classroom programs we have celebrated Harmony Day, undertaken football clinics and had our school photos completed. Last week we conducted our Easter assembly and our ANZAC Service will be held next Friday 13th March in the undercover area. The service will commence at 9.30am and will be held on the lawn area outside the new undercover area. All parents are welcome to attend and I look forward to the usual fantastic turnout of parents at this important event. NAPLAN The National Assessment Program for Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) will be held next term for all students in year three and five. The test dates are Tuesday 15th May to Thursday 17th May. Students who are away on these days can be caught up on the Friday of the same week in some of the tests. It is important for students to be present. SCHOOL GROUNDS I would encourage children to stay away from the school grounds during the holidays. We do have vacation care running from the undercover area offered by the Whitfords after school and vacation care. If parents see anything unusual happening with people acting suspiciously around the buildings please contact School Watch on the number provided in the newsletter. I hope all families have an enjoyable and safe holiday break and I look forward to seeing everyone back at school for term 2. Students resume on Monday 30th April 2018.

Kids love nature-based playgrounds and our second installment is getting ever closer!
Researchers at the University of Western Australia have found the benefits of nature-based
playgrounds range from the development of gross motor skills, stimulation of imagination and
building of resilience. Natural, irregular and challenging spaces helps kids learn to assess and
navigate risk, as well as building their confidence and positive relationships with each other.
Easter Raffle and Colouring-In Competition
Thanks to the generosity of the Padbury PS community we raised a total of $709.50 that will
go to the new nature-based play equipment! The winner of the 1st place raffle prize was
Connor from room 10.
As many of you witnessed at the parade, the Easter Bonnet competition was fierce this year!
The winners were: Bianca (room 17), Nathan (room 15), Logan (room 14), Jai Tai (room 8) and
Eloise (room 10). We’d like to thank the judges: Jade Lori-Haggis, Tania Miltrup, Teri Tan and
Heather Longworth.
The winners of the colouring in competition were: Juliette (room 17), Coby (room 15), Rachel
(room 14), Jessie (room 8) and Oscar (room 10). Thanks to all who entered!
