Date:May 23, 2015

Course/Instructor:Comm 130 Section 3Brother Pingel

Program(s)/Tools:Nikon D750 and Adobe Photoshop

Objectives:Plan a picture where the color scheme and rule of thirds are already predetermined.

Process:First I chose a color scheme of triadic using the primary colors. I used the color wheel found in the book VISUAL FOCUS. I then found a spot where I could take my image and did so using my Nikon D750, and an 85 mm lens. I brought the photo into Photoshop and adjusted the levels, sharpness, saturation, and color balance. I was also able to clone in a patch of grass where there was dirt. I then was able to incorporate my colors into my design by adding a few different elements to my picture. I included a swathe of the color scheme that I used in the bottom right of the picture.

Program(s)/Tools:Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop.

Objectives:Set up a trifold brochure, learn to textwrap an image in InDesign, and use paragraph styling.

Process:I started this project by creating a new logo for “Wild Will’s Swimwear” using Adobe Illustrator. I used the pen and eclipse tool to create the logo. Afterwards I was able to open a new design page on Adobe InDesign. I separated my two pages into three different sections on each page.

Once my pages were set up, I inserted photos and text that I had already chosen throughout the pages. I inserted an image that I had trimmed in Photoshop so it would only be her outline. I then wraped the text around the image, and was able to create enough negative space to keep in consistent.

Date:June 14, 2015

Course/Instructor:Comm 130 Section 3Brother Pingel

Program(s)/Tools:Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator

Objectives:Create a new logo and insert it into a business card format.

Process:I used Adobe Illustrator and created a logo for the company. To do so used the shape tool to make a box. I then used the pen tool to add anchor points to the box and move them around until I made the box look similar to Idaho. I then added text and made part of it one color and the rest of it another color.

Date:June 14, 2015

Course/Instructor:Comm 130 Section 3Brother Pingel

Program(s)/Tools:Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign

Objectives:Take a personally made logo and insert it into a letterhead format that would match my business card.

Process:I then transferred the logo over to Adobe InDesign and used that program to create my letterhead. I started on my letter head by placing the logo in the top left corner and then working my information into different areas of the page. I kept the overall theme similar to my business card to create a level of ryhthm for the company.

Objectives:Focus on the basic rules of alignment and typography with material that had been designated for the flier. Use and learn the basics of InDesign and how to properly form a compatible layout.

Process:I started by scetching out a few possibilities for layout options. Once finding a suitable layout I inserted multiple text boxes throughout my design. I then placed the imgaes that I had been provided with is their designated areas. Lastly I added lines using the shape tool to give the flier more of a theme and add unity throughout the design.

Description:Three different styles to one logo.

Date:June 6, 2015

Course/Instructor:Comm 130 Section 3Brother Pingel

Program(s)/Tools:Adobe Illustrator

Objectives:Learn to use the basic tools of Adobe Illustrator by creating three varitations of my same personal logo.

Process:I began by making three diverse logos and polling people to find out which their favorite was. After discovering the best, I created three different styles to the favorite. I used the line and shape tool to create my camera and the tripod that it sits on. I increased the width and outlines where I thought it could use a bit more contrast. I then looked for a font that was eligible and timeless.

Description:Color, full bleed event ad using only Microsoft Word and a scanner.

Date:May 17, 2015

Course/Instructor:Comm 130 Section 3Brother Pingel

Program(s)/Tools:Microsoft Word, Cannon scanner, PDF2JPEG.net

Objectives:Find a high quality image that could be used for an event ad by sanning the image to your computer. Learn to insert and edit images in word, while creating appropriate text boxes to improve your message.

Process:I started by finding one of my wifes images from a texture wedding book and using my scanner at home to get it onto my word document. After I was able to decide on my complementary color scheme based off of his tie and the green from the scene. I created contrast by using an Oldstyle font for the title, and switching to a san serif for the body text. I added a few boxes and lines to add a good feeling of repetition, and bring the message together.

Description:Montage using two or more images, and blending them together with appropriate typography.

Date:July 18, 2015

Course/Instructor:Comm 130 Section 3Brother Pingel

Program(s)/Tools:Adobe Photoshop

Objectives:Use and understand layers in photoshop. Learn to blend images together smoothly.

Process:I first had to crop my image to the desired size, then had to insert another image on top of the background. After resizing it, I was able to blend the images by decreasing the opacity of the second image in certain areas. The opacity was changed to different degrees so that the image would have a well-blended look to it. I added the type with most of the words being black, to stand out and achieve the desired contrast.
