Zone Swimming Carnival

Congratulations to Angus, Zac, Indigo, Jack T,

Maddie and Kiana on representing our school

at the Zone Swimming Carnival earlier this week.

They all swam their best on the day and we

were very proud of their sportsmanship and

team spirit as they cheered each other through

their races. Well done!

School Swimming Carnival

Students cheered, chanted and clapped

for their house team mates during races

at the recent swimming carnival.

Well done to those students who

advanced to the Zone level of the

carnival.

Students entered races and novelty

activities during the carnival to earn

points for their Sports House teams.

It was a fabulous day in the warm sun

and for our new Kindergarten students it

was their first swimming carnival. Kinder

to 2 children enjoyed time in the wading

pool playing water games.

EnviroMentors is an

educational service that

travels around NSW

providing workshops on the

environment. Springdale

Heights was lucky enough to

have them come and visit our

school on Wednesday and

Thursday, 17 and 18 of

February.

All of the classes had an

opportunity to learn from

Tyrone, our presenter, who

taught us about the four

main causes of litter (people,

animals, wind and rain), how

the litter ends up in our

waterways and practical ways

we can eliminate rubbish in

our communities.

The students got to

participate in role play

activities, watch a

demonstration of how we are

polluting our waterways

using Tyrone’s model town

and discussed the most

common types of litter.

We will be

putting

Tyrone’s

tips into

practice at

Springdale

Heights!

Years 5 and 6 students

led their first peer

support sessions on

Friday 19 February.

There was a lot of

excitement, and some

nerves, as our leaders

got to know their groups

and explained the purpose of the peer support

sessions.

This term our focus is on anti-bullying; creating a

safe environment and positive school culture

through getting to know each other and creating

a sense of belonging.

After each session, all classes will hold debriefing

sessions to discuss the lessons learnt from the

groups and to reinforce the positive messages.

Well done to our year 5 and 6 leaders who did

such an outstanding job in their first session!

Last year our leaving Year 6 students

purchased a bird bath for the garden area

outside the school office.

This year’s Year 6 students have been making

sure that it is topped up with water and

cleaned regularly for the birds to enjoy and

drink and a wash.

Mikayla fills the bird bath

5-6 H Self-Portraits At the start of the year, 5-6 H did some ‘getting to know you’ activities to help us bond as a group.

One of the activities we did was a self-portrait, with the students expressing their creativity through their choice of colour and decoration.
