The Clean Growth Opportunity

• The Low Carbon Sector accounts for 7% of Oxfordshire’s economy – generating annual sales of over £1billion per annum

• Opportunity to double annual output and create a further 11,000 new jobs

• Deliver Oxfordshire’s emissions targets in line with local and national targets

The Clean Growth Challenge • Oxfordshire grid is at capacity – new technologies and innovation could

increase demand by a further 50%• Transport accounts for 40% of all energy use in the County • 9% of electricity demand currently supplied through low carbon generation• Half ways towards target of 50% reduction in emissions on 2008 levels by

2050

• Significant shifts required:• Extensive retrofit programme • Shift to electric vehicles• Reduction in overall journeys• Increases in renewables solutions to electricity and heat demand

• Lead nationally and internationally to reduce county emissions by 50% by 2030, and set a pathway to achieve zero carbon growth by 2050

• Enhance and strengthen energy networking and partnership working to provide leadership in the delivery of the Industrial Strategy and Clean Growth Strategy
