2. PRECAUTIONS

Foryoursafety,thedrivershouldnotoperatethecontrolswhiledriving.Also,whiledriving,keepthevolumetoalevelatwhichexternalsoundscanbeheard.

1. When the inside of the car is very cold and theplayerisusedsoonafterswitchingon the heater, moisture may form on the disc or the optical parts of the player and properplaybackmaynotbepossible.Ifmoistureformsonthedisc,wipeitoffwithasoftcloth.Ifmoistureformsontheopticalparts of the player, do not use the player foraboutonehour.Thecondensationwilldisappearnaturallyallowingnormaloperation.

2. Vibrationsresultingfromdrivingonbumpyroads may cause the sound to skip.

Storing the DCP in the DCP Case

Thecontrolpanelcanbedetachedtopreventtheft. When detaching the control panel, store itintheDCP(DETACHABLECONTROLPANEL)casetopreventscratches.WerecommendtakingtheDCPwithyouwhenleavingthecar.1. Press the [ ]button(2sec.)toturnoffthepower.

2. Depress the [OPEN]buttontounlocktheDCP.

3. Grabtheedgethatpopsoutandremovethe DCP.

1. Hold the DCP and ensure that the panel facestowardsyou.SettherightsideoftheDCPintotheDCPbracket.

2. Press the left side of the DCP until it locks.

HoldtheDCP,intheorientationasshowninthefigurebelow,andputitintothesuppliedDCPcase.(EnsuretheDCPisinthecorrectorientation.)

CAUTION• TheDCPcaneasilybedamagedbyshocks.Afterremovingit,becarefullynottodropitorsubjectittostrongshocks.

• Theconnectorconnectingthesourceunit and the DCP is an extremely important part. Be careful not to damage itbypressingonitwithfingernails,screwdrivers,orotherhardobjects.

Handling DiscsHandling• Newdiscsmayhavesomeroughnessaroundtheedges.Ifsuchdiscsareused,theplayermaynotworkorthesoundmayskip. Use a pen or similar tool to remove any roughness from the edge of the disc.

5. OPERATIONSBasic OperationsNote:Be sure to read this chapter referring to the chapter“3.CONTROLS.”

CAUTIONBefore turning off the unit, return the volume to a lower level. Restarting playback with the volume at maximum increases the possibility of damage to the speakers or your hearing.

Power on/offNotes:• Starttheenginebeforeusingthisunit.• Becarefulaboutusingthisunitforalongtimewithoutrunningtheengine.Ifyoudrainthecar’sbatterytoofar,youmaynotbeabletostarttheengineandthiscanreducetheservicelifeofthebattery.

2. Press the [ ]buttononthefrontpanelor[POWER]buttonontheremotecontroltoturnonthepowerwhileinstandbymode.Theunitgoesbacktothelaststatusafterpoweron.

3. Press and hold the [ ]buttononthefrontpanel or press the [POWER]buttonontheremotecontroltoturnoffthepowerwhileinworkmode.

MutePress the [MUTE]buttonontheremotecontrol to mute the volume from the unit.

Note:Pressing the [MUTE]buttonagainoradjustingvolumewillreleasemuting.

Volume adjustmentTurn the [VOLUME]knobonthefrontpanelor press the [ , ]buttonontheremotecontrol.Theadjustablerangeofvolumeis0to40.

CAUTIONWhile driving, keep the volume level at which external sounds can be heard.

Playing source selectionPress the [SRC]buttononthefrontpanelor the remote control repeatedly to choose desired playing source.

Notes:1. Playing source selection means selecting workmode,suchasDISCmode,Radiomode, Aux mode, etc.

2. When some devices are not ready, they cannotbeselected.

Display system timePress the [D]buttononthefrontpanelor[DISP]buttonontheremotecontroltoswitchthe display information, system time and playing source.

Manual tuningDuringmanualtuning,thefrequencywillbechanged in steps.Press the [ ] / [ ]buttononthefrontpanel or the remote control to tune in a higher/lowerstation.

Auto tuningPress and hold the [ ] / [ ]buttononthe front panel or the remote control to seek a higher/lowerstation.Tostopsearching,repeattheoperationaboveorpressotherbuttonshavingradiofunctions.

Note:When a station is received, searching stops and the station is played.Iftheunitreceivesastereobroadcast,theindicatorlightofstereo‘ST’ontheLCDdisplay lights.

Auto storeOnlystationswithsufficientsignalstrengthwillbedetectedandstoredinthememory.Press and hold the [PS/AS](2sec.)buttontostart automatic station search.Tostopautostore,pressotherbuttonshavingradio functions.

Note:1. After auto store, the previous stored stationswillbeoverwritten.

2. Theunithasfourbands:FM1,FM2,FM3andAM.FM3andAMcanstorebyASfunction.Eachbandscanstoresixstations, CZ500 can store 24 stations in total.

Manual storeWhile tuned into a desired radio station, press andholdnumberbutton1–6tostoreitinthememory.

Radio OperationsRecall the stored stationsPressonenumericbuttonamong1to6onthe panel or the remote control to select the corresponding stored station.

Local seekingWhenLOCALseekingison,onlythoseradiostationswithstrongradiosignalcanbereceived.Press and hold the [D]buttononthefront panel, then press the [ ]buttonrepeatedlyuntilLOorDXdisplaysonthescreen,androtatetheknobtoselectLocalorDistant mode.

Note:Thenumberofradiostationsthatcanbereceivedwilldecreaseafterthelocalseekingmode is on.

Preset scanPreset scan receives the stations stored in preset memory in order. This function is usefulwhensearchingforadesiredstationinmemory.1. Press the [PS/AS]button.2. When a desired station is tuned in, press

the [PS/AS]buttonagaintocontinuereceiving that station.

Note:Be careful not to press and hold the [PS/AS] buttonfortwosecondsorlonger,otherwisethe auto store function is engaged and the unit starts storing stations.
