Our Lady of Ukraine
- Hrushiv 1914 and 1987 The first apparition of Our Lady occurred in the village of Hrushiv, on May 22, 1914, 2 weeks before World War I. The Virgin Mary appeared to 22 people who were mowing fields near the local church of the Holy Trinity, all witnessed the apparition. She said to them; "There will be a war. Russia will become a godless country. Ukraine, as a nation, will suffer terribly for 80 years-and will have to live through 2 world wars, but it will be free afterwards." Our Lady's prophecy came true. Ukraine enjoyed short-lived independence after the War, but a large part would become part of the atheistic Communist Soviet Union, while the rest would be divided by neighboring countries. In Soviet Ukraine, the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church was brutally suppressed. In 1932-33, a man-made famine was imposed by Stalin in Ukraine in which over
9 million people perished. The 2nd World War erupted with Ukraine being between fought over by the Nazis and Soviets. In the summer of 1944, all of Ukraine would be under Soviet domination. In 1946, the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church was liquidated and forced to join the state-run Russian Orthodox Church.

ROSARIUM VIRGINIS MARIAE.
(cont. on pg. 3)

On April 26, 1987, 73 years later after Our Lady's prediction and 1 year to the day after the nuclear disaster at Chernobyl, a bright light covered the church of the Holy Trinity and the surrounding area. The Virgin Mary appeared and floated above the cupola of the church. A television program recorded it. Soon thousands and hundreds of thousands from as far as Russia came to see the Virgin Mary. Priests from the Ukrainian Catholic Church which operated in the underground celebrated as many as 10 liturgies daily! The local KGB and Soviet militia could do little to control the crowds. The Virgin Mary was even seen by the KGB agents! Our Lady left many documented messages; "I have come on purpose to thank the Ukrainian people because you have suffered most for the Church of Christ in the last 70 years. I have come to comfort you and tell you that your suffering will come to an end. Ukraine will become an independent state." "Do not forget those who died in the Chernobyl disaster. Chernobyl is a sign and a reminder for the whole world." "Forgive your enemies. Through you and the blood of martyrs will come the conversion of Russia. Repent, and love one another…Pray for Russia… Russia, despite everything, continues to deny my Son. Russia rejects real life and continues to live in darkness. If there is not a return to Christianity in Russia, there will be a 3rd World War; the whole world will face ruin." "Teach the children to pray. Teach them to live in truth and live yourselves in truth. Say the Rosary. It is the weapon against Satan. He fears the Rosary. Recite the Rosary at any gathering of people." "I have come to you to tell you that your suffering will end soon…. The Kingdom of Heaven and Earth is close at hand. It will only come through penance and the repentance of sins. "My children, all of you are dear to me and please my heart. I make no distinction of race or religion. You here in Ukraine have received knowledge of the One, True, and Apostolic Church. You have been shown the door to heaven. You must follow this path, even though it may be painful." "The Eternal God is calling you. This is why I have been sent to you. You in Ukraine were the first nation to be entrusted to me. Throughout your long persecution you have not lost faith, hope, or love. I always pray for you my dear children, wherever you are." On August 24, 1991, some 77 years after Our Lady's prediction, Ukraine declared independence, and the Catholic and Orthodox Churches along with national -cultural life despite the ongoing war with Russia, are flourishing.

"Only the Holy Spirit
can prompt your heart to say 'Father' Only the Holy Spirit opens your heart to Love" Pope Francis
"O Heavenly King, Comforter, Spirit of Truth, everywhere present and filling all things. Treasury of blessings and Giver-of-Life:
come and abide in us, cleanse us of every impurity, and save our souls, O Good One."
This prayer to the Holy Spirit opens our liturgical services because we believe that it is only through the Holy Spirit that our life as Christians is effective for our healing and sanctification. It is the Holy Spirit who guides us, who encourages us, and who fills us with the life-giving grace of God the Son and the love of God the Father. It is for this reason that during the Divine Liturgy, we pray that we may be partakers in the communion of the Holy Spirit. Come and take part in a new Faith Formation video series on discovering a deeper relationship with the Holy Spirit. Fr. Dave Pivonka, TOR, will take us on a pilgrimage to discover and experience a life -giving relationship with the Holy Spirit. This is a relationship that will take us on the greatest adventure imaginable: a journey to the very heart of God. Come Holy Spirit!
Join us weekly starting Tuesday, October 3rd from 7:30pm to 9:00pm in our parish classroom.
Please bring your bible for these sessions.
There is no cost. Sponsored by our St Josaphat Council of the K of C. We especially ask for the men of the parish to come!
