chapter1Overview
897N1017341-2
Based on the “FCR Quality Assurance Program Plus - For Medical Institutions - Image Recorder Guidebook” (available separately and referred hereinafter to as the “Guidebook”), this Operation Manual describes how to operate the “Quality Control Function” (the “QC Function” hereinafter) of the Fuji Medical Dry Imager DRYPIX 4000 and operating precautions to be observed, when running constancy testing by means of this function. For general concepts of the quality control, see the “Guidebook”.
The “QC Function” described herein is available only when it has been “activated” by service settings.
Even without using the “QC Function”, the quality control manager can conduct constancy testing and quality control tests not covered by the constancy testing. However, with the use of this function, those tests can be conducted much more easily and securely.
1.1 What is the DRYPIX 4000 “QC Function”?The “QC Function” enables you on the DRYPIX 4000 operation panel to set up various QC-related items including printout of QC tests patterns required for quality control purposes, history display and necessary corrections of density measurement results, etc., as well as baseline values and established criteria.

2.1 Preparations Before the OperationShown below are the tools required for running constancy testing according to this document on the Image Recorder.
(1) External Densitometer
For the external densitometer, use a densitometer calibrated with the standard density step tablet that complies with the expiration date. The use of a standard density step tablet manufactured based on a density step tablet (NIST : National Institute of Standards and Technology (US)) is recommended. The recommended density step tablet and densitometer are as follows.
Recommended density specimen
Manufacturer : X-Rite, Incorporated. Product name : 301-27 Certified 5-Step Transmission Step Wedge
Recommended densitometer
Manufacturer : X-Rite, Incorporated. Product name : 331
(2) Plastic ruler
We recommend that you use a flexible, plastic ruler for the implementation of this function. The use of a transparent plastic ruler is recommended so that a measured section is viewedeasily.
Baseline values and established criteria
Meanings of the “baseline values” and “established criteria” are explained accordingly in the “Guidebook - Image Recorder” (section 2.3).Baseline values and established criteria to be applied for the internal and external densitometers, as well as for the format, have been determined optimally for the DRYPIX 4000 as the default values. Basically, these values need not to be changed.

2.10 QC SettingsYou can specify “baseline values” and “established criteria” settings under the headings “BUILT-IN DENSITOMETER,” “EXTERNAL DENSITOMETER,” and “FORMAT” for each tray. To start implementing quality control, “baseline values” and “established criteria” settings must be specified for all items.
2.10.1 Built-in Densitometer Setup
You can specify “baseline values” and “established criteria” settings under the heading “BUILT-IN DENSITOMETER” for each tray, following the procedures described herein. While in [QC TEST PATTERN] mode, built-in densitometer measurement values and built-in densitometer values set up here are compared with each other to obtain judgment results. The two built-in densitometer setups options, “AUTO” (Automatic setup) and “MANUAL” (Manual setup), are available as described below.
● Automatic Built-in Densitometer SetupThis option automatically outputs three QC test pattern films to perform procedure to measure baseline values and obtain average values. Note, however, that the established criteria will not be set up
automatically.
