Welcome to Tech Able

Located at the Enabling Village, Tech Able is an integrated assistive technology space that is jointly managed by SG Enable and SPD.

Some of the services we provide are:• Information and assistive technology training

• Speech and mobility assessment, device modification services

• Ideas for making your home and office friendly to users with disabilities

What is assistive technology (AT)?

Any “product, device, or equipment, whether acquired commercially, modified or customised, that is used to maintain, increase, or improve the functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities.”

- United States Assistive Technology Act (1998)

In the early days, spectacles were considered an assistive device to correct medical condition. Now spectacles are

sometimes seen as a fashionable accessory.

AT Assessment and Training Services• At Tech Able, therapists prescribe AT devices to persons with

disabilities in accordance to the SETT Framework.

• Training on the use of prescribed AT will be conducted by the therapist to ensure that the user is able to utilise the device proficiently.

Device Modification• In collaboration with

volunteer engineers, we look at how mainstream toys can be modified for kids with special needs to play and learn.

• Other modifications could also include mounting systems, etc.
