CASE STUDY

In 2013, opensky

delivered the “Project

Evaluation Platform” (PEP) to Sustainable Energy

Authority Ireland (SEAI) to enable them to manage

all phases of grant applications and payments for a

number of their Better Energy schemes.

This solution allows grant applications to complete

an on-line form and submit their claims via a public

facing website. An internal custom MS Dynamics CRM

solution allows SEAI staff to manage all aspects of this

business process.

As part of this project, opensky have developed

a Business Intelligence/Data Analytics solution to sit

alongside PEP. The solution is based on the Microsoft

Business Intelligence stack, including SQL Server

Analysis Services (SSAS), Integration Services (SSAS)

and SharePoint. The solution extracts information from

the Dynamics PEP solution on a scheduled basis and

moves this to a customised datamart. The datamart is

then used to feed a number of analytics cubes (based

on SSAS).

These cubes present a user friendly set of business

entities which can be used to deliver ad hoc reporting

of the PEP programmes. The solution will allow SEAI’s

business experts to interrogate the data on their own

terms, and gain their insights directly with the data in

real time, removing the reliance on help desk staff for

creating ad hoc queries.The solution enables SEAI to

build and monitor KPI performance.

eolas International is a worldwide leader in market research, providing trained researchers that visit retailers of global brands to complete independent Product Quality Audits in-store.

Using a bespoke mobile data collection app provided by opensky, their researchers are able to send daily updates to the central team for instant report generation. This includes pictures of defective products and reports provide their clients with hard hitting, comprehensive and actionable assessment of their on-shelf performance. Eolas chose opensky because of our experience in the provision of handheld solutions, our customization expertise and the IT service, including support and maintenance, offered by opensky.

Lloydspharmacy partnered with opensky to revamp its Enterprise & mobile architecture for its warehouse stock and delivery processes resulting in better integration of its existing back-office systems and mobile platform.

Challenges

its existing mobile device was facing end of life the existing back-office system was based on

outdated technologies and other vendors were unable to integrate or were too costly

existing mobile application was not user friendly

opensky was the only vendor to provide a solution to Lloyds Pharmacy which would avoid a costly replacement of existing back-office systems and provide a mobile architecture within budget.

opensky provided a technology team which worked closely with Lloyds’ business and IT to establish an integration architecture with existing back-office and infrastructure, as well as provision of a mobile integration strategy. opensky’s mobile application was designed for the users ensuring ease of use on the warehouse floor. opensky’s architecture took into account the existing in-store infrastructure and was designed to fit around this again avoiding costly upgrades on behalf of Lloyds.

Mobile deployment was accomplished using Motorola’s MSP, opensky provided a turnkey support service across all 1,650 stores. The mobile application has been so successful that despite 2 back-office upgrades in the last 6 years opensky’s mobile component and integration architecture has been consistently held up by the business as key to the overall efficiency and ease of use for users.
