Since our foundation in 1995 Outwell has gained, maintained and extended its position as the market leading camping brand by being in tune with trends and consistently exceeding market expectations. Renowned for practical and inspired innovation, we have introduced a long line of original features. Some are unique to us and protected by law. Others are now industry standard practice. We are often copied but never bettered.

ORIGINAL OUTWELL COLOURSOutwell was born and announced its presence using original colours and trims that breathed life into the traditional palettes used. These evolved into the trademark Outwell stripes that were immediately welcomed by campers looking for brighter interiors combined with mix ’n’ match accessories. Such was the success that it was soon copied throughout the market and quickly became an industry norm.

LUMINOUS GUYLINESTripping over unnoticed guylines is a common, irritating accident suffered by every camping family but it took the Outwell team to tackle the problem and come up with a clever yet simple solution that others have seized on since.

OUTWELL SEALED GROUND SYSTEMAn early example of Outwell camping solutions, a sealed-in groundsheet is the best way to keep draughts, insects, dirt and water out of a tent. When the groundsheet is an integral part of the tent it ensures all-weather protection from the ground upwards.

CARPETS AND FOOTPRINTSWe introduced carpets to provide extra insulation in the living area while adding luxury underfoot and boosting interior ambience. Footprints were added to keep the groundsheet clean and provide an extra durable barrier against debris and dirt that may cause damage. A good idea? Well, they are now a common market option and considered a necessity by many campers.

UNIVERSAL INNERSAs campers ourselves we recognised the need for flexible, versatile accommodation to meet changing needs. We created the universal inner to provide campers zipped access between the inner tent’s two bedrooms and a better level of privacy compared to that provided by drop-down curtains. Fully open, it creates a single room or one side can be taken down and rolled away for extra living space.

PANORAMA ROOM AND FRONTWe wanted a design that enabled families get the most of outdoor living regardless of weather by improving light and views. The resulting panorama front acts as a conservatory to enhance living space and views whilst the panorama room delivers the same as a separate living space to extend a family’s outdoor living experience. No matter if sunny or dull the tent remains bright and airy inside with superb wide views of the campsite.

OUTWELL EASY PEGGING SYSTEMSimple, effective colour-coding allows three peg types to fulfil their roles in the right place first time for fast pitching and lasting stability – grey steel at the tent’s corners, luminous pegs with the guylines, and black plastic pegs for general pegging.

OUTWELL WAVE-SHAPED HANGING POINT SYSTEMThe eye-catching finish to this feature hides a clever solution to the common problem of the strain applied on the inner tent seam when the inner is hung from the outer. Our designers developed the Outwell Wave-shaped Hanging Point System to spread the strain rather than concentrating it in a single area where it can cause damage. Mesh fabric ensures minimal resistance to the air flow vital to reducing condensation.

OUTWELL EXTENDED CANOPY SYSTEMBuilding on the tent extension concept, we have developed a versatile canopy for the Deluxe Collection. Campers benefit from several pitching options for additional shade, shelter and privacy. The canopy can be adjusted quickly to match changing conditions.

11 12RAIN SAFE ENTRYWe created our generous protected porch to ensure the tent’s interior avoids a soaking from vertical and wind-driven downpours when you enter or leave during rain or heavy dews. It also provides a handy shelter in which to change out of wet, muddy gear and a useful place to store boots and waterproofs safe outside the main tent. In fact, our Rain Safe Entry has proven so successful that it is has now been adopted by many other brands.

OUTWELL EXTENDED FRAME SYSTEMExtra headroom, easier pitching, enhanced stability, and reduced pack size and weight are just some of the benefits campers enjoy through the use of a special joint we designed to connect a short Duratec fibreglass pole to one of the steel supporting poles. The joint continues to evolve while others catch up.

OUTWELL ONE-GO INFLATION TECHNOLOGYOur intention is to make camping life as relaxed as possible and we created One-go Inflation Technology to simplify, ease and speed up pitching. Our Smart Air tubes are all connected so that inflation takes place using just one valve. The valves quickly deflate the tent and isolation valves are used to enable easy maintenance.

OUTWELL WIND STABILIZER SYSTEMOur patented and proven invention is a huge and important step in tent stability. It creates a direct attachment point between the outer tent, tent pole and peg for reliable security in gale-force, gusting winds.

TINTED WINDOWSLarge tinted windows not only add to a tent’s style and comfort but also have practical benefits. With a special developed coating that reduces the penetration of harmful UV radiation, the sun’s heat and glare are reduced whilst allowing wide views out with privacy from passers-by.

For a start, we have for many years subjected every Outwell tent model to high winds and torrential rain from all angles at our own test facilities to ensure that, if correctly pitched, they will withstand up to a Force Ten gale.

We use the internationally recognised Beaufort Scale to illustrate the performance of our tents in the stormiest of conditions as it is the empirical measure that relates wind speed to observed conditions at sea or on land. In tests, tents in the Classic and Premium Collections withstood winds speeds of up to Force 10 on the Beaufort Scale – this is a gale storm rating considered sufficient to uproot a tree! DeLuxe, Privilege and Regency Collections withstood Force 9 winds with speeds of between 75-88km/h – that is 47-54 mph or 20.8-24.4m/s – and sufficient to blow over small trees.

EasyOUTDOOR LIVING RELAX


In 2013 our Smart Air tents revolutionised the inflatable tent market through the use of the Outwell One-go inflation Technology. Our true family-size, up-market, inflatable tunnel tents were an instant hit for they could be erected in seconds with little effort by plugging the supplied manual pump into a single air input valve.

Outwell One-go Inflation Technology comprises a unique frame that interlinks each upright tube via an apex tube that also enhances rigidity. Isolation valves ensure the frame does not fully deflate in the unlikely event of damage and facilitates repair. Ready to pack away? While only one input valve is needed to inflate the tent, each tube assembly has an outlet valve to ensure quick and easy deflation.

Smart Air tents are packed full of outstanding features. Yet more examples of Outwell innovation include: simple pitching with our Easy Pegging System; large tinted windows, Sealed Ground System; universal inner; the much copied Rain-safe door; and our Wave-shaped Hanging Point System.

Smart Air TC tents continue to evolve and were joined last year by the Smart Air Polyester and Touring Collections that introduced the concept in a new fabric to campers and campervan owners. And this year sees Smart Air include caravan awnings, providing the perfect easy-to-use solution to simply adding extra living space to a unit.
