Two preeminent ways for us to deliver value to the academic research community: (1)  Provide specific technology solutions that help to facilitate the

optimization of the research process Example: UCS Research Appliance Our recent work with researchers, scientists and partners, from the I2 community has resulted in a modification to the Cisco server line that provides an effective and inexpensive way for researchers to move large data files between project groups at line rate speeds (300 Gigabits at 9.3 GPS disk transfer over Internet2’s Advanced Layer 2 and Layer 3 Services backbone)

(2) Invest in and collaborate with the academic research community on specific technological development

The Cisco Research Center facilitates research interactions between Cisco and the world-wide research community

Our Vision is to foster technology innovation through external research partnerships.

Our Strategy is to determine which universities align best with Cisco's strategic directions, then fund and support them via peer-to-peer relationships between Cisco technical leadership and university/institute researchers.

Our Execution methods are: External research programs (RFPs, Grants, SRAs) that Foster transparency in research relationships; Drive and facilitate technical curriculum & courses, symposia, external talks, etc.
