b. Thesymptomsofconcern:Feverof100.4andhigherand/oranewonsetofmultiplesymptoms(twoormoreofthefollowing):chills,cough,shortnessofbreath,fatigue,bodyaches,headache,lossoftasteorsmell,sorethroat,congestion,nauseaorvomiting,diarrhea.
3. AstudentorworkerwhohastestedpositiveforCOVID-19orisexperiencinganewonsetofmultiplesymptomsofconcernshouldnotattendschool.(Moreonsymptomsandguidelinesareaddressedbelow)
4. AstudentorworkerwhocallsintoschooladministrationtoreportanabsenceduetoillnessmaybeaskedadditionalquestionstoinquireaboutCOVID-19symptoms.
5. LHShasaseparatewaitingroomthatisdesignatedforquarantineshouldastudentbecomeillwhileinschoolandneedtowaitfortransportation.Thatroomwillbedisinfectedaftereachuse.
6. Personsexposeddirectlytosomeonewhohasbeentestedaspositiveshouldquarantine,seekoutaCOVIDtest,andbefever/symptomfreeforaminimumof72hoursbeforereturningtoschool.
FacialCoverings
1. Allpersons(students/teachers/staff/visitors/servicepersonnel)mustwearfacialcoveringsthatcoverboththenoseandmouthuponenteringthebuildingandanytimewhenwalkingormovingaboutinsideanybuildingorwhenincloseproximitytoanotherperson.Byexamplefacialcoveringsmustbeworn

Distancing

a. Whenunabletoseparateatleastsixfeetfromanotherperson,afacialcoveringmustbeworn.
b. Whenabletoseparatealeastsixfeetapart,afacialcoveringdoesnotneedtobeworn.
Cleaning
1. Classroomswillbecleanedatmultipletimesthroughouttheday.a. Studentandteachertouchpointswouldincludedesktops,chairs,
classroomresourcesthatarehandled,doorknobs,lightswitches,sinkhardware,andcountertops.
b. Allactivetouchpointswillbecleanedaftereachclassroomusewithcertifiedandsafedisinfectant.
c. Allothersurfacesthatarenotconsideredtouchpointsbuthavebeenpartofacontainedsharedspacewillbecleanedbeforethebeginningofeachschoolday.
2. Lunchareaa. Student,teacher,staff,andpersonneltouchpointswouldincludetable

3. Hallsandlockersa. Individualstudentlockersshouldonlybetouchedbytheregistered
studentoccupant.Studentsshouldnotsharelockers.b. Lockers,carpet,lightswitches,doorknobsandthewaterbottlefill
stationswillbecleanedbeforethebeginningofeachday.c. Studentswillonlybeabletoaccesswaterthroughvendingmachine
purchaseorpersonalwatercontainers.Bottlefillstationscanbeusedonlybystudentsduringthedaybuttheusershouldcleantheirhandsimmediatelyafterusingthebottlefillstation.Handsanitizerwillbelocatedbyeachbottlefillstation.Note:Bottlefillstationsshouldnotbeusedbyathletesduringconditioning,practice,orgames.
d. Studentlockersarecloseinproximitytoeachother.Thisisapointofcongestion.Extendedpassingperiodtimeswillallowforstudentstopracticebothpatienceanddistancingwhilegettingandleavingsuppliesintheirpersonalstudentlockers.
ContactTracingItwillimportanttolocalhealthofficialsthatrecordsarekeptconcerningthelocationofstudents,theroomstheyoccupy,whotheyareinclosecontactwith(sittingnextto,lockerlocation,whotheyridetoschoolwith,whotheyeatwith)forpurposeofcontacttracing.AstudentorteacherwhotestspositiveforCOVID-19couldinfectothersaroundthembeforetheyareawareoftheircondition.Tracingtheirpathandpotentialcontactswithotherpeopleisimportantinthepreventionoffurtherviraltransmissions.AlthoughnotuncommonforLutheranHighSchool,studentswillbeassignedseatingcharts.SymptomOnsetand/orAPositiveCaseofCOVID-19infectionAnyonetestingpositiveforCOVID-19orexperiencinganonsetofmultiplesymptomsduringtheschoolyearmustreportthattotheadministrationofLHS.Schoolsandlocalhealthdepartmentsareencouragedtokeepschoolsopenandoperatingasmuchaspossible.IfsomeoneexperiencessymptomsorhasbeentestedandispositiveforCOVID-19,thatstudentandpotentiallythoseinrecentclosecontactmayberequiredtostayhomeforseveraldaysforpurposeofhealthassessmentandcontacttracing.ThefollowingshouldbeconsideredconcerningCOVIDsymptoms:
1. UntestedandSymptomatic
PersonswhohavenotreceivedatestprovingordisprovingthepresenceofCOVID-19butisexperiencinganewonsetofmultiplerelatedsymptomswillneedtoselfquarantineuntilthefollowingthreeconditionsaremet:
o Theyhavenothadafeverforatleast72hours(thatisthreefulldaysofnofeverwithouttheuseofmedicinethatreducesfevers);and
o Othersymptomshaveimprovedinpastthreedays(forexample,whenyourcoughandnauseahaveimproved);and
o Atleast10calendardayshavepassedsinceyoursymptomsfirstappeared.
2. TestedPositive-Symptomatic
PersonswhoexperiencedsymptomsandhavebeentestedforCOVID-19mayreturntoschoolifthefollowingconditionsaremet:
o Theindividualnolongerhasafeverfor72hours(withouttheusemedicinethatreducesfevers);and
o Othersymptomshaveimproved(forexample,whenyourcoughorshortnessofbreathhaveimproved);and
o Atleast10calendardayshavepassedsincesymptomsfirstappeared.
3.TestedPositive-Asymptomatic
PersonswhohavenothadsymptomsbuttestpositiveforCOVID-19mayreturnwhentheyhavegonetencalendardayswithoutsymptoms.
4.TestedPositive-ImpactonSchoolOperations
LHSwillworkwithourlocalhealthdepartmentinfollowingtheCDCguidance.Itisreasonabletothinkthatnormalschoolfunctionswillbecancelledforseveraldaystoallowfordeepcleaning,communications,andcontacttracing.
GuidingPrinciple#2:In-SchoolandIn-PersonSchoolDayItisthedesireforallstudentsandteacherstoengageinthespiritoffellowshipandcommunity.Bothsocialandemotionalwell-beingrequiresanenvironmentthatallowsforin-personrelationshipstothrivethroughhumaninteractions.Tobeabletoworship,interact,serve,engage,andrespecteachother’sneedsisbestservedin-person.ManychangeswillneedtobemadetoallowforallstudentstoexperiencethispositivecultureofLHSin-person.Changesarelistedbelow:ThreetypesofSchoolDays:Itisanticipatedthatthefollowingtypesofschooldayscouldbeusedatanygiventimeduringtheyear.LHSwilldowhatitcantohelppreventthespreadofviralinfectionsfrompersontoperson.ThispreventionmayrequireLHStoimplementachangeinthedeliveryofourcontinuouslearningplan.Theadministrationisconfidentthatstudentsandteacherscaneffectivelyrelyuponeachofthefollowinggiventhesituationalrequirements.Individualstudentsand/orteachersmayneedtostayhomedueforhealthreasonsandthereforemayneedtoemployoneofthefollowingwhilethemajorityexperiencein-persontraditionalschool.
1. In-SchoolandIn-person
Thisisthedesiredtraditionalschooldaywherestudentsareinattendanceaccordingtoaprintedschedule.Non-traditionalsafetyprotocolsareinplacetopreventthespreadofviralcontagionsfrompassingfrompersontoperson.
2.LiveOnLineThisisinplacetoallowstudentstohave2-wayvisualandaudioaccesstotheteacher’sinstruction.Thisdigitalplatformisaccessiblebymobiledevicesandthereforestudentsandteachersmayprogressthroughthecurriculumtogetherwithoutbeinginanin-personenvironment.Thislearningplandoesfollowaspecificdaytimeschedule.3.eLearningThisisavailableforsituationsinwhichbothstudentsandteacherscontinuealearningplanthatisnotdependentonalivevideooraudioinstruction.Studentsandteacherscanactivelycommunicateviaadigitalplatform.Thisdoesnotrequireaspecificschedulerelatedtodaytimehours.
StudentHandbook:Allguidelines,rules,andexpectationsasoutlinedinthe2020-2021handbookwillapplyunlessnotedotherwise.Thisincludesnormalin-schooldressguidelineswiththeadditionofafacialcoveringthatisnotvisuallydistractingtootherswhoexpecttheeducationalenvironmentofW.I.S.E.R.YearCalendar:Themajordatesassociatedwiththeschoolyearareintendedtostaythesame.Anychangesinmajordates(startoftheyear,endoftheyear,vacations,graduation,endofquarters,finals)willbeduetounforeseenconditionscausedbyCOVID-19protocols.Additionstothecalendarhavenotyetbeendetermined,butitisbelievedthatseveralprofessionaldevelopmentdayswillbeinsertedintotheyear.ThesedayswillbecomeeLearningdaysforstudentsinwhichtheywillfollowacontinuouslearningplanfromtheirhomeasestablishedbytheirinstructorsandthecurricularmaterialoftheparticularday(s).DailySchedule:LHSwillengageinblockschedulingtoreducefrequentstudentmovementandallowformoretimewhenchangingrooms.ClasstimeswillbeadjustedtoallowforactivityperiodonTuesdayandChapelonThursday.TherewillnolongerbealatestartWednesdayforprofessionaldevelopment.
Classtime:Teacherswillberequiredtoinstructfrombehindafacecoveringorshield.Thiscouldincludeaclothmaskorfacialcovering,aclearfaceshield,orfrombehindastationaryclearshield.In-personclassroomswillalsorequirestudentstobesociallydistantfromeachother,whichwilllimitseats.Beingsociallydistantinaclassroomwillallowforstudentstoremovetheirfacialcoveringiftheyshoulddesirethat.Studentswhowishtokeeptheirfacialcoveringsonwillbeallowedtodothat.Allteacherswilldeliverinstructionlivein-personandliveonlinesimultaneously.Studentswhoarenotabletoattendthein-personclassroomwillbeexpectedtobeLiveOnLineunlesstheirhealthandconditiondonotallowforanyschoolengagementuntiltheirhealthreturns.Studentswhoareabsentfromclass,eitherin-schoolorLiveOnLinewillneedanexcusefromtheparent,guardian,oradoctor.PassingPeriod/BeforeSchool/AfterSchool:Theschoolwillbeopenat7amforstudentstogatherinthemorning.Studentsmustenterwearingafacialcover.Theymaysitattableswithoutfacialcoveringaslongassocialdistancingismaintained(nomorethanfouratanytableatanytime).Duringtimesofcongestion(immediatelybeforeandafterschool)studentswillneedtowearfacialcoveringswhentheyaresittingincommonareasbutnotabletosociallydistantthemselvesfromothersstandingorwalkingabout.

Studentswhoarenotinvolvedinafterschoolactivitiesorarenotworkingwithateacheroncurricularproblemsolvingmustwaitinthecommonsareafortheirride.Studentsmayremovefacialcoveringsifpropersocialdistancingisestablished.Studentswillberequiredtowearfacialcoveringswhilemovingaboutinpassingperiodorbeforeandafterschool.Studentswillneedtopracticepatiencewhilewaitingtogetintotheirownlockers.Studentswillbeallowedtohaveconversationalfellowshipinthehallwaysaslongastheyarewearingmasksandarenottouchingeachother,notcreatingatrafficproblem,aremaintainingtheirpersonalbelongings,andarenotsharingitems.Studentswillneedtocleantheirhandswhenenteringanewspaceafterpassingperiod.Studentscanremovetheirfacialcoveringswhenseatedatatablewithproperdistancingbeingapplied.Lunches:Studentswillbeallowedtoeattogetherbutarelimitedto4studentspertabletoallowforappropriatedistance.Lunchtableswillbesetupinboththecommonsandauditoriumlobby.NewtablesarebeingpurchasedfrommoniesraisedbystudentsandLuFest.Supervision,microwaves,restrooms,andvendingmachineswillbeavailableinbothareas.Teachersandtheirstudentswillbeassignedalunchperiodandlunchlocation.Attendance:Itisimportantthatallstudentsattendallclassesastheirschedulesdictate.Studentswhoarehealthyandableshouldbein-schoolandattendclassesin-personasmuchaspossible.Studentswhoarequarantined,sick,orunabletoattendin-personclassesshouldattendviaLiveOnLineduringthescheduledclasstime.StudentsunabletoattendLiveOnLineduetothesymptomsofsicknessshouldhavetheirparentorguardiannotifytheschooloftheirabsence.Studentswhoarequarantinedorsickwillnotbeallowedtobeinschoolorattendextra-curricularactivities.
GuidingPrinciple#3:ContinuousMissionandLearningThevisionofLutheranHighSchoolisthatallstudentswillMovewithPurpose,PursueOpportunities,andChampionthePositive.TheresourcesforthisvisioncomefromGod’sWordandHispeople.Themorewecanbringbothofthesetogetherinthesameplacethemoreourvisionbecomesaliveandreal.Beingin-personatLHSeachandeverydayisrealpowerfulforthestudentsandthislivingvision.Whenwearenottogetherduetosituationsbeyondourcontrol,thenextbestthingistoconnectremotelyandhopefullyvisually.Whenstudents,teachers,andleaderscanconnectremotelyinaLiveOnLineenvironmentthevisionissustainableandthereforewecancontinuethemissionenvironment.LHSwillcontinuetoseekoutthebestwaytoincludeallstudentsandteachersinitsmissiontoshowChrist,prepareforHiscalling,engageinacademicexcellence,andbuildHiskingdomenvironmentnomatterthelocationofourSaints.AgoodschooldaywithLHScanhappenin-personandin-schoolorathomeandonlinewithourexcellentrelationalstaff.Anyofthefollowingmaybeinplaceforstudentsandteachersasasharedschool-wideplaninthepreventionoftheCOVID-19viralspread.

1.Students,parents,workers,andleaderswhoregularlyengageinthefunctionsoftheschoolwillbeaskedtosignastatementthattheyhavereadandunderstandtheconditionsofthisdocument.
2.Teacherswillengageinprofessionaldevelopmentthatpreparesforthefollowing:
• RecognizingthesymptomsofaCOVID-19infection.• Understanding and leading school safety protocols to help prevent the
spreadofCOVID-19• Structuringtheclassroomforoptimaluseandinstruction• Delivering course content throughanew in-personand simultaneousLive-
OnLinedigitalclassroom.• Shepherdingstudentswhenmovingthroughaday’sschedule.• Preparingforaprofessionalyearandestablishingacalendarofprofessional
development.
3.StudentswillbeorientedtothenewpracticesconcerningCOVID-19prevention.Students will be guided and allowed to practice behaviors to encourage newhabitsinsocialdistancing,handwashing,andfacialcoveringprotocols.
4. Signage will be posted throughout the building and campus to inform all
membersof theSaintscommunityconcerning thepreventionof thespreadofCOVID-19.
5.IthasbeenmadeclearthattheCOVID-19preventionplanwillcontinuetoevolve
andnewinformationbecomesavailable.LHSwilladoptandmodifythisplaninaccordancetofederal,state,andlocalguidelinesasrelatedtotheCDC.
