Enjoy the Adventure
Program overviewFort Greely Adventure Programsand Outdoor Clinics are designed
to teach outdoor skills, familiarizeparticipants with the beautiful Alas-kan wilderness, and provide mean-ingful recreational opportunitieswhile maximizing fun and safety.Many activities are family-friendlyand some programs cater towomen only.
Authorized usersAll DoD ID card holders and spon-sored guests.
Age restrictionsParticipants under the age of 18must be accompanied by an adult.See the detailed activity descriptionfor individual activity restrictions.
How to registerRegister in person at the OutdoorRecreation Center (ORC); or use a
credit/debit card over the phone.Full payment is required at the timeof registration. Cash, Check, VISA,and MasterCard are accepted. Pre-registration is required on all activi-ties. The ORC is open ThursdayMonday from 8am-6pm. Call theORC at 873-4058 or stop by build-ing 627.
Cancellation policyFull refunds will be given with four
days notice, unless otherwisestated for each activity. No refundswill be given within 3 days of theactivity or for no-shows.

Required safety trainingAdventure trips that include the useof Outdoor Recreational Vehicles
(ORVs) including snowmachines,require prior safety training. ORVsafety training is available for $10/person. Additional information canbe found on page 5.
Fishing/hunting/trapping licenseParticipants in adventure trips thatinclude hunting or fishing are re-quired to have a valid Alaskan fish-ing/hunting/trapping license prior todeparture.

Outdoor activity descriptionsDonnelly Dome HikeRight in our back yard- Donnelly Domecasts an impressive shadow. This hikeis steep in places and can be strenu-ous. Access your fitness level ade-quately before attempting it. Views atthe top are amazing! This hike is about3 miles round trip. Ages 12 and up.Children 17 and under must be accom-panied by a parent. Min. 2. Free. Meetat Gabriel Auditorium parking lot at 5pm. We should be back to Ft. Greelyby 9 pm. Recreational Access Permit isrequired for all hikers and is availablefree at the Visitor Center. Trip may becancelled in the event of area closuredue to military training or severe in-
clement weather. (Aug. 3, Aug. 16)
George Lake Pike FishingFish for Northern Pike by river boat onquiet and peaceful George Lake.Launch in the Tanana River and takean exciting ride up the slough to thelake. Poles and bait provided. Bringwarm clothes, rain gear, a lunch andwater. Cost is $45 per person (July 8,17, 22, 31, and upon request).
Blueberry PickingBlueberries. You need them. Well takeyou there! Bring a rain jacket, waterand snacks. Oh yeah bring a bucketor basket to collect your berries. FREE(July 27, 28)
ATV Ride/Blueberry PickingGrab an ATV and well take you to thesweet spot! Enjoy a ride and gatherberries all at once. Bring buckets withlids, rain gear, water and snacks. Musthave passed our ATV safety course ifusing our ATVs. Cost is $35. ATVrental included in price. Bring your ownATV and its free. (July 27; 5 pm, Au-gust 7; 10 am)
Fielding Lake FishingEnjoy a day of fishing from a boat onFielding Lake. Bring warm clothes,
rain gear, food, water, and fishinggear. (We have gear if you need it.)Fishing license required. $45.(July 30)
Coal Mine Road ATV RideEnjoy a day of fishing, 4-wheeling,sightseeing, and picnicking. Bringwarm clothing, rain gear, mosquitospray, water, food, and fishing gear (ifdesired). Fishing license required iffishing. ATV rental included in price.$45. Must have passed our ATVsafety course. (August 28)

Clearwater River KayakEnjoy a float down the ClearwaterRiver in a kayak. This beautiful river isfull of grayling and makes for a relaxingfloat. It meets up with the Tanana Riverfor a bit before the takeout at Clearwa-ter Lake. Allow 3-4 hours on the water.Sign up at least three days in advance.Must have attended the drown-proofingclass. $15 (August 26)
Middle Fork River Camping, Fishingand ATV AdventureJoin us on an ATV adventure to theMiddle Fork River for world class fish-ing and camping. Off the Denali High-way, Middle Fork is located 12 milesdown the Swede Lake Trail and offersgreat fishing to in-clude Rainbow Trout,
Arctic Grayling, Red & King Salmon.This overnight adventure will departSaturday at 9 am and return Sunday at6 pm. An ATV rental, guide, and tent isincluded in the cost; Fishing and camp-ing equipment are available for rent atthe Outdoor Recreation Center. Con-sidered a moderate adventure, adults18+ are welcome. Cost is $150 perperson. (July 9-10, August 6-7)

This is an overnight, advanced fishingtrip not intended for children. Guide,
ATV, fishing equipment, and tent in-
cluded. The cost of this adventure is

Ladies Only ATV Trail RideThis Ladies Only ride will boost yourconfidence in a supportive atmos-phere. This ride is for beginner to inter-mediate riders. Must possess ATVsafety training card. $45. Meet at Out-door Rec. at 5 pm. Return by 8 pm.(August 19)
Lions Head Whitewater RaftingAn exciting glacial fed, class III & IVwhitewater trip next to the 27 mile longMatanuska Glacier. The main rapidsare several miles long and the result ofa squeeze play between the glacierslateral moraine and Lion Head, a
massive basalt rock wall from an an-cient volcanic plug. A perfect trip forfirst-timers or experienced river run-ners! Meet at Outdoor Rec. at 8:30 am.Return by 10 pm. Cost per person is$110. Sign up and pay one week inadvance.(August 6)

Outdoor RecreationVehicle (ORV) Safety Training:
The Outdoor Recreation Center offers an instructional ATV safety
and training course during the summer season. The safety training
is mandatory for all ATV rentals/adventure trips and to operateon USARAK land. The training course is available on Thursdays at
5:30 pm and on Sundays at 9 am. Other times can be arranged for
groups. A maximum of 8 participants can attend each course. Class
takes 3.5-6 hours. There are three 10 minute breaks during the class,
if needed. Bring water, full-fingered gloves, over-the-ankle boots,
long sleeve shirt, and long pants. FMWR has helmets with face
shields.
Goggles are also acceptable to wear, while safety glasses or sun
glasses are not allowed. Course fee is $15 to help cover the ex-
pense of gas and oil used over 3-6 hours of riding. Call the Outdoor
Recreation Center to schedule your training.
