Glacier Walk on Sólheimajökull glacierA Glacier Walk is a great way to experience Icelandic nature and a tour to Sólheimajökull glacier tongue is an ideal way to spend the day. On the two hour drive from Reykjavík you will pass right under the famous Eyjafjallajökull volcano that caused so much trouble in the spring of 2010. Just east of it lies Sólheimajökull, an outlet glacier from Mýrdalsjökull, Iceland’s fourth largest glacier. There you will go on a safe and easy glacier walk on crampons up onto the ice field. As we explore the wonderland of ice sculptures, ridges and deep crevasses you learn more and more about these disappearing giants. Our experienced mountain guides will teach you how to use basic glacier equipment necessary for this tour. On the way back we stop at the picturesque waterfalls Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss.

From Skógar to Þórsmörk - Day Tour from ReykjavíkThe Fimmvörðuháls pass from Skógar to Þórsmörk is one of Iceland´s most popular hiking routes. The trail takes us up from Skógar, along Skógá River and past its many waterfalls. We continue up between the two glaciers, Eyjafjallajokull and Mýrdalsjökull, to the recently formed lava and the new craters, Magni and Móði. Here the fresh lava is still steaming under the surface and the heat of the lava can still be felt. Heading down from the craters to the magnificent Þórsmörk glacier valley, we continue to enjoy more geological features as well as some amazing views over the highlands of Iceland and the surrounding glaciers. Given that we have time in Þórsmörk we enjoy our dinner in the fairytale landscape that surrounds the valley before we head back to Reykjavík on the bus. Once in a lifetime experience for all hikers and nature enthusiasts!
