Dear Girl Scout Campers and Parents, Summer is almost here and we are very busy gearing up for Girl Scout Day Camp 2019. We would like to invite your daughter to spend the week with us at camp having lots of fun and making new friends. The theme this year is Space! Day Camp is not just for girl scouts, we accept girls ages 5-17 regardless if they are a girl scout or in a troop. We would love to see your camper this summer at camp, she can even bring a friend. Just have the friend fill out a Day Camp registration form and register as a Girl Scout along with registering for camp! While at Day Camp, your camper will enjoy a week of fun, doing tons of activities and making lasting memories. Cost is $95 per camper and includes 5 days of day camp, bus transportation, a camp patch, and a camp t-shirt. You can’t beat this price! Non-registered Girl Scouts can join us at camp for $130 which includes her Girl Scout registration dues (good until September 30, 2019). At camp, your camper will be grouped with other girls her age. This will allow us to ensure that the activities your camper participates in are appropriate for her age. Here are the groups that we have at camp. Cool Cats Girls and Boys ages 3 to 5 yrs. who have not gone to Kindergarten. Parent/Guardian must be present at camp. Minimal participation is required for the unit to run. You may be required to be with your Cool Cat at least one day. We would like for them to be potty trained. Fireflies (completed Kindergarten-grade 1) - Have fun with your friends while trying out beginning camp skills. Ladybugs (completed grade 2) - Explore camp, make new friends (but keep the old), and try new camp skills. Butterflies (completed grade 3) - Learn new cooking skills, crafts, and camp skills while enjoying the fun camp activities. Shooting Starz (completed grades 4-5) - Campers will be able to stay overnight in a pitched tent with a friend at camp on Tuesday. *Additional adult coverage needed for the Overnight on Tuesday* Super Campers (completed grade 6) - Spend a day shadowing a Wise Owl to find out what being a Wise Owl is all about! Stay overnight at camp on Tuesday and/or Wednesday in a pitched tent with your friends. Wise Owls (completed grades 7-12) - You are invited to stay overnight at camp on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night in a pitched tent with your friends. Join us on Sunday afternoon for a fun activity. Wise Owls will spend their day at camp helping with a unit of girls or in a specialty unit. Camp is fun not only for the girls, but adults as well! We are always looking for volunteers who want to spend a day, or the week having fun at camp. It is very rewarding to see your daughter, or a girl in your group learn or try something for the first time. Please join us and see what fun we have planned for this year at camp. Can’t wait to see you at there!

Girl 411 What will I do at camp? Throughout the day, you may take a nature hike, play games, cook a meal to eat, meet other Girl Scouts, sing silly songs, make crafts, learn about self- esteem, fitness, nutrition, and work toward earning a badge, all while having FUN! While much of the week will be filled with planned events, you will decide what to do as a group in your free time. Can my mom or dad come along? Yes, parents are welcome as volunteers at camp. You may not be with them the entire time, but you will see each other during the day. Your grandparents or any adult over 18 can come and volunteer, also. We have plenty of activities to keep them busy throughout the day at camp. Will I be with friends from my troop? Yes, you will be grouped with other girls your age. You may or may not know everyone in your group. Day Camp is a great place to make new friends. Do I need money? No. Any items you order from the Trading Post Order Form will be there for you on your first day. No items are available for sale at camp. They must be pre-ordered on a Trading Post Form with your registration. What if It rains? No problem! There is plenty to do inside. There is also shelter in the event of severe weather.

Parent Info Who handles first aid at camp? A First Aid Trained Volunteer is always present at camp. Medical emergencies are referred to local hospitals. In the event of an emergency, we will use the information listed on the registration form to contact you. We rely on current and specific information on the day camp registration form from each participant in order to effectively handle emergencies. What if my daughter needs medication? An Authorization to Administer Medication Form will be sent if you checked the box on the registration form indicating that your daughter needs to take medication at camp. This form, and the medication in its original container (clearly marked), must be given to the First Aid Trained Volunteer upon arrival at camp. The First Aid Trained Volunteer can’t dispense any medications, prescription or over-the-counter, without this form. Campers are not allowed to carry medication with them during camp (unless approved inhaler or Epi Pen). All other medication needs to be from the First Aid Trained Volunteer. What do I do during severe weather? Camp is held rain or shine. In the event of severe weather conditions, prior to bus departure, cancellations will be made on local radio stations WBEV AM 1430, and Great 98 FM 98.7. There are storm shelters at camp in the event of severe weather while campers are at camp. What if I need to pick up my daughter early? If you know in advance that your daughter will be picked up early or arrive late, include a note with the registration form. If the form has already been turned in to your leader, please contact the Camp Directors. (See contact info page 6)

Financial Assistance Do you offer financial assistance? Yes! GSWIBC will cover up to 50% of the camp fee for eligible campers who submit a campership application. Many ways to volunteer include: work directly with the girls, teach a specific skill, or help set up or clean up camp.
