journey to KadeshBarnea (Num 10:11-12;Deut 1:2). From here thepeople would have directentry into the land of Canaan.Journeyed to KADESH BARNEA- a BARREN wilderness just south of

the boundary of IsraelGet to Border - 12 SPIES - 1 per tribe -40 days they traveled, HID, spied outland -saw fortresses, cities, lush valleys,fertile river banks, AMAZING

ABUNDANT FRUIT!IMAGINE!!!! - Living a year, eatingnothing but 'manna' quailFRUIT!!!! SWEET, REFRESHING,JUICY, FRUIT!!!!GRAPES - One cluster carried by twomen on poles --- pomegrants/figs

Yeah!!! BUT 10 said NO! - people toobig! fortified cities!EVEN though GOD said GO - theysaid NO!

joshua and caleb - GO!

Ten of these spies reportedgiants in the land, implying thatIsrael was too weak to enterCanaan (Num 13:33). But two ofthe spies, Joshua and Caleb,

said, "Do not fear" (Num 14:9).The people wanted to stone thetwo for their report (Num 14:10),and they went so far as to ask

for another leader to takethem back to Egypt.

People refuse and want to goback to EGYPT! - a YEARLATER!!!! After, God show'sHIMSELF STRONG on theirBehalf - Regardless of thePLEA's andENCOURAGMENT of Joshuaand CALEb - they wereunrelenting and were going toeven STONE them - set upleaders for selves - THISWAS MUTINY - TREASON!!!This was the 10th time in 12months they FOUGHT

AGAINST GOD in some way.GOD WAS FURIOUS!Withheld His wrath butDetermined they wouldwander the wilderness for 40years - one for each day in

the land! One for each daythey saw that God was Good,but refused HIM!

IT WASN'T SO much apunishment as it was to SAVETHEM, KEEP THEM, CLEANTHEM, SECURE THEM and

ACCOMPLISH WHAT HEPROMISED to Abraham!GOD WAS GOING TO SEE THISTHROUGH!

Incident after incident GODCorrected, Instructed, Purged,Protected and Provided! UNTILTHEY GOT to a point where theyGOT IT

Because of their fear andrebellion at Kadesh (Deut 9:23),the Israelites were forced towander in the Wilderness of Paranfor 38 years. Kadesh apparentlywas their headquarters while theymoved about during these years. Inthe first month of the 40 th year ofthe Exodus, the people againassembled at Kadesh for their finalmarch to the Promised Land.

While they were still camped at

Kadesh, a number of the leadersof the people rebelled againstMoses and Aaron (Num 16:1-3).

They were killed in anearthquake (16:31,32).

Miriam, Moses' sister, also diedand was buried (20:1).

At Kadesh, Moses alsodisobeyed God by striking therock to bring forth water(20:8-11).He had been told to speak, notstrike the rock. Soon afterMoses and the people began tomove from Kadesh toward

Canaan,

Aaron died and was buried(20:23-29).

The events at Kadesh Barneaclearly demonstrate the peril ofrebelling against God'sappointed leaders, murmuringand complaining about God'sdirections, and refusing to follow

God's orders.

Let us be a people being willingto follow God at all Cost!
