My Role
The challenge within my role has been how to reach young people across a large geographical and demographical area.
Soon after I joined Devon County Council I was challenged by my target audience to meet them in their space ‘on line’ – Facebook and Bebo.

Devon has 64,000 young people aged 11-21 yrs old.

• Identify and remove organisational barriers to social networking platforms.
• Identify best practice usage of ‘on-line social networks’ regarding youth engagement.
• Young people to be consulted and able to participate in decisions related to development and delivery of

• Consult with young people at Annual Youth festival July 2008
• Establish risk assessment policy for use by staff and young people for on-line social networking.
• Promoting information and links to enable safe internet use for young people
