Our Story – Hopefully an Inspiration to Someone…
was born on 15 October 1989. His mother abandoned
him at birth in the hospital , leaving a false name and contact details.
spent the next two years of his life in a place of safety, sharing
a cot with 2 other children, where they would stay for 23 hours in a
day, before spending one hour in a courtyard.

Our Story – Hopefully an Inspiration to Someone…
In 1992, and heard about and
made a decision to adopt him. Now remember, this was pre-democracy
in South Africa, under the rule of a government that had enforced
separation of races. No one had ever heard of legal cross-cultural
adoption, and on one was sure what to do!

It has been said that adoption is more like a marriage than a birth: two (or more) individuals, each with their own unique mix of needs, patterns, and genetic history, coming together with love, hope, and commitment for a joint future. You become a family not because you share the same genes, but because you share love for each other.

I realized at the start that whether a child is biological or adopted, one does not know all the ingredients in the package. That is what growth is all about. A child is the slowest flower in the world, opening petal by petal, revealing the developing personality within.
