What? Elle Macpherson is Australian? No way. She talks proper English, all posh and that. Yep, it seems Elle’s British-isation is finally complete with this hosting gig — there’s not even a hint of an Aussie twang about her. Unfortunately, Elle lacks the personality of Sarah Murdoch or Tyra Banks. Both have a rapport with the model wannabes and they’re genuinely funny. Elle is, well, kind of beige . . . she blends in. I will say, though, that the British series is much more multicultural than the Aussie and US ver- sions, and aren’t some of the names out there — Har- leen, Delita, Kadian. Amba says she could be ‘‘properly winning mater- ial’’. Huh? The judges are Charley Speed, who has been mod- elling since he was 17, ‘‘edi- torial stylist’’ Grace Woodward and designer Julien Macdonald. Grace tells it the way it is, bless her. ‘‘She’s an actress not a model’’ and ‘‘she’s not beautiful’’ are just some of her critiques. Eeek. But the big question is whether Elle’s hair-flick is trademarked? She does it in almost every shot — she goes to walk out the door, bang, here comes the flick. They even slow-mo it.
