About us

We started life as Aluminium Structure ServicesLtd., installing temporary aluminium framestructures at many of the highest profile spor�ngand public events throughout the world. Sincethen, we’ve become involved with morepermanent membrane structures, such as the O2Arena and Sports Stadium, together with theworld’s largest re-locatabletemporary structure.

As technologies and techniques have improved,par�cularly those of computer aided design inrela�on to the design of tensile membranestructures and their manufacture, our productshave become more accessible to a wider market.

Eight years ago, this technology enabled us tointroduce our Pocca range of structures - thecountry’s first and only system of tensilemembrane structures designed specifically forschools, helping them to bring their insideac�vi�es outside throughout the year.

We have recently extended this range to meetan expanding ’indoor to outdoor’ market,and now offer:

• the Qube – a heavy-duty structure designedfor long term use in demanding environments

• the Al Fresco – a varia�on of the Qube whichis suited to dining and relaxing in any outdoorse�ng

• the Kwikshade – a frameless structuredesigned to provide shade and showerprotec�on

together with a variety of mul�-purposemembrane structures to accommodate the en�rerange of indoor-to-outdoor ac�vi�es and uses.

With the Pocca range for schools, we havedeveloped a standard of service and support tobe proud of. It is our mission to con�nue thisethos into all the products we supply. The most versa�le and effec�ve canopy on themarket. Designed to last, Qubes offer flexibility tomeet all your needs for outside covered areas.Qubes can be tailored to fit most spaces, whetherit be a wasted corner, a whole area or a walkwaybetween two buildings.

Qubes are just so useful in making the best use ofyour outdoor space in any weather, and can beused to create wai�ng areas, quiet areas, or evenfor storing equipment.

Smoking shelters

Since the na�on-wide smoking ban came intoeffect in July 2007, and par�cularly since therecent inclusion of Mental Health facili�es, we’vebeen approached by a number of customerslooking to provide shelter which isn’t“substan�ally enclosed”. With this in mind, we’vemodified our market-leading Qube structure andcome up with a safe and prac�cal solu�on whichis fire retardant.

Though there is no legal obliga�on to provideoutdoor covered space for smokers, weunderstand that most proprietors regard them asessen�al, which is why our smoking sheltersfeature Plexiglas half sides to give smokers all thebenefits of the Qube as well as protec�on fromthe elements in line with the new legisla�on.What’s more, they’re designed to your exactneeds to make the most of your chosen area.

We believe that this makes our shelterscompletely unique and a great longlas�ngalterna�ve to the ready-made structuresavailable elsewhere.

What is a Kwikshade?

We can’t lay claim to the inven�on of theSailshade; the concept of using a sheet ofmaterial suspended at three or more points isancient. We’ve refined this concept usingmodern material and CAD techniques toprovide a longlas�ng, sta�c product whichbrings the Sailshade right up to date. We callour version the ‘Kwikshade’ - a dis�nc�vestructure designed to make an ordinaryenvironment extraordinary, whilst providingvaluable protec�on from the harsh effects ofthe summer sun.

Each Kwikshade is individually designed - oncethe fixings are in place, exact measurements aretaken and the Kwikshade is modelled using CADtechniques before being pa�erned to create astructure which is truly three-dimensional withminimal movement in the wind.

Kwikshade structures can vary in size from small3m x 3m shades to huge areas with mul�pleshades, ideal for covering sea�ng areas instadiums.

Benefits

Kwikshades are a prac�cal and cost-effec�vealterna�ve to more tradi�onal canopies. They aremanufactured from a structural grade mesh whichis inherently fire retardant, and are designed forlong-term outdoor use.

The mesh sails offer up to 90% UV block, meaningthat they can have a shade factor of 97%. They alsoprovide a high level of UVA and UVB protec�on.

Available in a range of sizes, shapes and colours,Kwikshades are ideal for use over smaller areas, aswell as sand pits and other outdoor playequipment to protect children from the sun’sharmful rays.

Al Fresco

In addition to our popular Qube, we can nowoffer a range of stylish Al Fresco structureswhich combine the proven benefits of a tensilemembrane roof with the aesthetic appeal of atimber frame.

Our structures are designed to last, makingthem ideal for outdoor dining, relaxing andevents in the hotel, restaurant and ‘food pub’arenas.

The Al Fresco isn’t limited to the commercialmarket, though; we’ve adapted the supportingstructure to be light enough for shorter-termuse in larger gardens and on patios, plus thechoice of timber, aluminium or steel framesmeans there’s something to suit every tasteand setting.

Quintet

The Quintet is another great option for outdoorevents and entertaining. Long-lasting andattractive, it is available in standard sizes andcan be relocated easily if and when required.

Curtain walls are also available and can be usedto turn the Quintet into an enclosed space,perfect for garden parties and othercelebrations and functions.

Our partner authority will confirm that ourstructures exceed the specifications set outin the relevant regulations and guidelines

If you would like your structure to complywith any specifications that exceed theusual regulations and guidelines, ourpartner authority will also be able toconfirm compliance with those.

Alternatively, if you would like our partnerauthority to liaise directly with your localauthority’s building control in advance ofcertification of compliance, they are veryhappy to do so.
