St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School Pinjarra Newsletter

24 September 2015 Volume Seven, Issue Fourteen Week 10 Term 3

Our Vision We at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School Pinjarra, seek to create a God centred

environment where each school community member is nurtured spiritually, academically, socially and physically.

MOTTO: Faith and Trust

A Prayer For Peace

Lord Jesus Christ,

who are called the Prince of Peace,

Who are yourself our peace and reconciliation,

who so often said,

‘Peace to you’,

grant us peace.

Make all men and women witnesses of truth,

justice, and brotherly love.

Banish from their hearts whatever might endanger peace.

Enlighten our rulers that they may guarantee

and defend the great gift of peace.

May all peoples of the earth become as brothers and sisters.

May longed-for peace blossom forth

And reign always over us all.

By Saint John XXIII

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Community Members,

It’s hard to believe that we have come to the end of Term Three – please be careful on the roads and have a

wonderful relaxing break with your loved ones.

Tomorrow is our final Merit and Worker of the Month Assembly, please come and join us.

A warm welcome to our new students and their families who have joined us this term:

Myles Gaebler - Year 5

Darby Gaebler - Year 2

Cadyn Shutt - 3 Year Old Kindergarten

A reminder to drive carefully in the Parish Car Park and please do not park in front of the Convent gate as it

needs to be kept clear at all times. I know parking can be difficult but we all need to work together. From

Week One next term, children in Years One and Two who normally go to the undercover area for pick up in

the afternoon, now need to be picked up directly from the classroom door. Please wait in the undercover

area and move to the door after the bell has rung. Bus children will still need to go to the front gate near the

Library as per their usual arrangements and Camp Rd “Kiss and Go” will still operate as normal.

Next term Monday 12 October is a Pupil Free Day with children commencing on Tuesday. Notes regarding swimming

need to be returned to the office this week as lessons also start on the first day back to school, Tuesday 13

October.

This year we broadened our 1:1 iPad policy to include Year Four students and this will continue next year also.

Early next term we will send out information to allow the parents time to seek the best possible price.

Unfortunately we ran out of time to provide another Parent Volunteer session this term, however, this will

happen early next term and we will advertise via our SEQTA message system.

I have included some excerpts of the Year Two students’ persuasive texts about why they love St Joes, a lovely

way to end the term!

God Bless and have a safe and relaxing holiday.

Joy Ketteringham - Principal

One reason you must agree with me is because we have

Joey's Rock. At Joey's Rock, we sing in different

languages and it improves our singing. If we go to a

country and they are singing a song in a different language,

we can join in and sing it properly.

St Joseph's is definitely the best school because there are nice teachers. They can teach you lots of new things and the school is the best. There is lots of space to play at lunch and recess.

By Darby

You must agree that St. Joseph's is the best because we have lots of excitement. We have lots of exciting things to play on like the monkey bars, the slide, the flying fox, the pole and a tunnel to hide in.

By Shaelie

You must agree with me that St. Joseph's is the best. We get lots and lots of classes like Italian. When we go there we learn new words like 'Benvenuto'. That means 'welcome'. We also get to do lots of activities.

By Georgie

One reason you must agree with me is we get investigations. We can be creative in investigations. We get to look for bugs and go to the circus. Investigations is definitely fun! By Lewis
