Who Is Skyline • Skyline Global Logistics is a medium sized privately owned South African Freight Forwarder,

operating since 1986.

What We Offer • Air Freight - where air freight is the only option we have a variety of airfreight solutions available,

namely: Consolidated Air Freight; Priority/Express Air Freight; Small Parcel Service and Full Charter

• Sea Freight – These services include: Full Container Loads (FCL); Less than Container Loads (LCL); Consolidations; Break-bulk and Project Cargo.

• Cross Trade - shipments originating in one country and delivered to another without entering South Africa. We are able to handle cross trade shipments, efficiently & cost effectively, thanks largely to our global network of owned offices and exclusive agents.


What We Offer, Cont… • Warehousing and Distribution – We provide warehousing and distribution services in all major

centers, either from our own facility or through that of a carefully selected partner. Allowing us to offer our customer a real door to door tailored solution.

• Marine Insurance – We are an authorized representative of Prest Group (Pty) Ltd in terms of the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, 37/2002 under License number 165. Jointly we are able to offer our customers Marine Insurance necessary to protect their cargo against theft, damage and loss in transit.

• Skyline Express – Seeking to add value to our customers business, the Skyline Express was born. Enabling us to offer a Domestic and International hand-to-hand courier service.

IMPORT PROCEDURE AND REQUIREMENTS – FROZEN MEATS

• Veterinary Import Permit (Dept of Agriculture, Forest & Fisheries)

• The permit will detail among other things, Commodity, Origin (from where) and quantities.

• The supplier must conform with the requirements stipulated in the Veterinary permit.

• A health certificate which is then issued by the health authority of the country of Origin (Supplier)

• The health certificate must satisfy all requirements of the veterinary permit.

• The importer needs to be in the possession of the Original Veterinary import Permit as well as Original Health Certificate – PRIOR TO CUSTOMS CLEARANCE & CARGO ARRIVING IN SA

• Delays will result in late clearance and additional costs being incurred

• All fresh/froze meat products need to be shipped in refrigerated containers set to the relevant operating temperature setting of the product.


CUSTOMS CLEARANCE

• Customs clearance needs to be processed prior to obtaining release of the shipment

• Upon release the following documentation is submitted to the local State VET Office:

• Customs Clearance Bill of Entry and Release

• Original Vet Permit

• Original Health Certificate

• Suppliers Invoice

• Copy of Bill of Lading/Arrival notification

• If in order the State Vet will then issue a Removal Permit for the container to be moved from the port to a local State Vet approved cold storage facility for physical inspection of the cargo.

• If the above documents are in order the State Vet issues a Removal Permit for the container to be moved from the Port to a local State Vet Approved Cold Storage Facility for physical inspection of the cargo.


CUSTOMS CLEARANCE – CONT

• First application for release of the container must be made with the Shipping Line.

• The Shipping Line will not release the container without the Removal Permit.

• No Removal Permit no release and you will incurring additional charges.

• Once release the container is delivered to a local State Vet Approved Cold Storage Facility.

• The container cannot be trucked anywhere outside Durban as the cargo has to be physically inspected in a local State Vet Approved Cold Storage Facility first.

• Upon arrival at the State Vet Approved Cold Storage Facility, the container is unpacked and cargo stored in the cold store.

• Cargo is then inspected, where a sample is extracted for testing / inspection.

• If the product passes inspection final release is granted, at this point one can distribute, consume or sell the goods imported.


CUSTOMS CLEARANCE – CONT

• Should the product fail inspection: • State VET will relay their complaints or problems and additional requirements.

• The importer will need to provide additional documentation or information as per state vets request

• Should the cargo be deemed not fit for Human consumption or in serious violation of their regulations, they can call for the goods to be destroyed at an approved facility, the cost of which will be for the importer’s account.
