Until next time,

Your Principal, Bill Gillespie

Well saidLast week I was fortunate to watch our students present their ideas at our school finals of the multi-cultural public speaking finals. This event, organised by Mrs Smith, allowed the students to showcase their talents in front of parents and peers. What a talented bunch of speakers we have at our school. Mrs Smith has details of our finalists and stage winners further on in the newsletter.

Paul Kelly Cup (AFL) Congratulations to the girls who represented us so wonderfully last week at the Regional Finals of the AFL Paul Kelly Cup. They won two of their three pool games but unfortunately, were not successful in making the

finals. Mr Waters was full of praise for the way they conducted themselves. The girls were a credit to themselves, the school and to their very proud parents.

Peninsula Community of Schools (PCS) Green Sea Turtle ProjectThis Friday, our students involved in the Green Sea Turtle project will be at the Coastal Environment Centre to present their findings with other students from the PCS. Students from the nine other schools in the PCS will also be there as part of the joint presentation. I would like to thank Miss Bullen for assisting our students in this very worthwhile educational experience.

Kindergarten 2016 enrolmentsWe are now taking enrolments for our 2016 Kindergarten students. If you know of someone who lives in our community and has a child starting at school next year please let them know.

Life EducationNext week we begin our Life Education Program (Healthy Harold) for our students. The van will be in the school for two weeks, from 9th June to 19th June, as Life Education provides age appropriate lessons for our students.

P&C Working BeeDon’t forget that our next Working Bee is next Saturday, 20 June from 1pm to 4pm. We are looking at removing some of the asparagus fern from our school and planting some new plants on the school oval. We will be providing a BBQ for all workers.

P&C meetingThe next P&C meeting is on Wednesday, 10th June at 7:15pm in the staffroom. I look forward to seeing you there.

.. P&C ContributionYou may have read the headlines in in the Sydney Morning Herald on Saturday that federal government funding of public schools is about to feel the savage cut of the razor. In all, $9.6billion will be stripped out of public school funding over the next 10 years.

Public education is a precious resource and needs our financial support to fill funding gaps. In the next week or so we will be sending out an information sheet and details on how we can all support our children so they can hopefully stay ahead of the curve.

P&C MeetingThe next P&C Meeting is on Wednesday, June 10th in the staffroom at the new time of 7.15pm.P&C meetings are for parents to voice their suggestions, concerns or any other matter that impacts our children’s education, opportunities or welfare. Please email items you wish to place on the agenda to: [email protected] by 6pm this Friday. The agenda will be attached to next week’s newsletter so the community is aware of the business under discussion.

Art ShowPreparations for the Art Show are well under way and we thank the volunteers who are assisting with the presentation of work. The Art Show is scheduled for 16th and 17th June and rumour has it we will be treated with a special performance from The EHPS Strings Ensemble, definitely worth the price of admission.
