Our departed loved ones were very much a part of our lives while they were with us and are s ll part of the fiber of our being. We should keep them in our prayers con nually that they may enjoy the happiness of Heaven. If you know of a Parishioner who died this past year and did not have their funeral at Our Saviour’s, please call the Parish Office so their name will be included in the special Mass at 5:30 p.m. We invite everyone to a end. A recep-
on will follow in the New Mee ng Room.
SEEING YOUR LIFE THROUGH THE LENS OF THE GOSPELS Mark 10:46-52
1. In this story Jesus cures the blind man, Bar maeus. Recovery of sight in the Bible is o en a metaphor for coming to faith. Perhaps during your life you have had moments of insight, of deeper understanding, of apprecia ng who Jesus is for you. What was it that helped you to see more clearly?
2. Who has been the ‘Jesus person’ who helped you to see more clearly? Perhaps, as a parent, a teacher or a friend, you have also been a ‘Jesus person’ for another and helped her or him to a clearer understanding of the meaning of life, love and faith. 3. To get to Jesus, Bar maeus threw aside his cloak so that he would not be impeded. What have you had to discard in order to be able to see more clearly (e.g., an assump on, a prejudice, a rigid opinion)? 4. ‘Your faith has saved you’, Jesus said to Bar maeus. Recall situa ons in which you have been grateful for the faith that is yours because in some way it saved you.
John Byrne osa MUSINGS In his reflec ons on Mission Today in the recently-published third volume of Treasures of Irish Chris anity, Bishop Bren-dan Leahy writes: ‘While not intending to undervalue the role of missionaries going to distant lands to proclaim the gos-pel, with the Second Va can Council there was a renewed recogni on that the whole Church is missionary and not just in a geographical sense. Everything about the Church should be communica ng the central message of the gospel, in all walks of life as well as in all corners of the world. All the bap zed, both individually and together, are involved in mis-sion.’ Salvador Ryan St Patrick’s College, Maynooth
The “Peace Plan” of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Each time the Blessed Virgin appeared to the three children at Fatima, She repeated her requests that we pray the Rosary each day and she promised that if people did what she asked there would be peace. At this point in history, where all other efforts seem to fail, the Blessed Mother’s “Peace Plan” is an easy way for each of us to bring peace into our world, our parish, our homes and our hearts.

Many mes during our daily travels we see people less fortunate than ourselves. Do we stop and help or even ask if we can be of assistance? Would it embarrass us if they refused? It shouldn’t because someday we may be in that person’s shoes. God watches these situa ons so be a good Samaritan and help your brother or sister. Our ini al gree ng at SVdP is, “how may we help you?”

First Communion Preparation – Do This in Memory Program 2015 – 2016
The Children who will be making their First Communion next May and their parents will be
attending the 10:15am children’s Mass October 25th. They will be enrolled in the parish
preparation program: ‘Do This In Memory’
This program highlights the importance of the Eucharist as a celebration where we gather, are nourished by the Word and the Bread of Life, and are sent forth to live the Gospel. The home is a place where the children’s
faith is nourished. The school, religious education program, the home and the parish join together in the
children’s preparation for their First Communion.
The children will promise to get to know God better by coming to Mass and by praying at home with their
family. The parents promise to help their children to take part in the program and to accompany them to
Mass and encourage them on their journey. The children receive a Mass Book and candle, which they will bring to Mass during the year. We ask the community to re-member and pray for these children and their families
during this special preparation time.
