Welcome! If this is your first time at FaithWestwood, we want you to know how glad we are you came. We also know it can be a little scary coming to a new church. That’s why we want to do everything we can to help you feel at home, find new friends, and take the next step in your faith.

Green shirts, green sheets, green bagsIf you have questions, ask anyone wearing a green FaithWestwood polo this morning. Or leave us a note on the green sign-in sheet in your bulletin, which will be collected with the offering. We also invite our new guests to pick up one of our “little green bags” in the foyer. Inside you’ll find a little info and a small gift.

We hope that what you experience this morning brings you back next weekend. We’d love to see you again soon!

July 5 - 25 - REVIVALMethodism began as a revival movement. The church in 18th-century England tended to be formal, academic, and spiritually lethargic. But God called John Wesley and others to preach the gospel to those who hadn’t heard and invite them to a heart-felt experience of salvation through faith in Christ. And God did the rest, creating a personal revival in the lives of all who responded. The church today stands in need of revival. Let’s pray for God to send that Spirit of revival to us. During July our pastor will refashion four of John Wesley’s ser-mons for our time. May God open our hearts to hear and respond.

July 5 - Salvation By FaithWith every season of revival comes a fresh reclaiming and proclaiming of the pure gospel message. God gives salvation to sinners who put their faith in Christ. What is this faith? What is this salvation? In 1738, less than three weeks after his “heart strangely warmed” experience, John Wesley preached this gospel mes-sage at Oxford University, and he preached it often throughout his life. It was the spark that lit the fires of revival.

Missions director Celeste Ellis to leave at end of AugustPastor Steve Todd and the Staff-Parish Relations Committee announce that our missions director, Celeste Ellis, will be leaving our staff at the end of the summer. While she has loved serving here on a part-time basis these last few years, God has prompted her to search for a full-time position. She plans to remain with us leading up to and during our Outside the Walls event on August 23. During Celeste’s tenure as missions director, the church has launched its FaithWorks Pantry Place, now serving 60 families per month. She also led our first trip to Costa Rica last year, as well as another in January this year. Under her direction, FaithWestwood has become a leader in fill-ing UMCOR flood buckets to bring to annual conference, and we have brightened the lives of hundreds of children around the world by filling shoe boxes with Operation Christmas Child. Due to her leadership, FaithWestwood has strengthened its ties with local mission partners, such as Together, Omaha Street School, and Habitat for Humanity. She has also served as our primary point of contact with missionaries we support, Jay Mundy in Uganda and Carlos Mestayer in Costa Rica.

Lunch is served in Room 231 and can be set up in the room during the morning. Crockpots can be plugged in and a microwave is also available in the room. Pizza, lasagna, a casserole, sloppy joes, or purchased food, along with a fruit or a salad, bread and a simple des-sert (cookie, fruit, etc.) would be ideal.
