Fundamentals of the Faith Date: Today Location: Conference Room Time: Equipping Hour

Join Bill Stevens for this foundational class that blends basic biblical truths with personal obedience and service. The lessons provide a great way for believers to grow in their understanding of biblical truths. With topics ranging from the character of God to church participation, it’s an ideal study for discipling new believers and allowing mature believers to return to the basics of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.

Benevolence If you would like to help meet the needs within our body for those who are experiencing financial difficulties, please indicate “benevolence” with your contribution. If you are aware of any specific benevolence needs within the body please contact the following Deacons;  Steve Dwyer, Donald Avery, or Mike Goins.

LBC Kids Ministry In light of our recent transition back to one service on Sundays, there are definitely some key volunteer needs in the LBC Kids Ministry that we need your help with! Please prayerfully consider jumping in to care for and shepherd the souls of all these children God has brought to Lakeside. If you are interested in helping, please contact the Church Office. Here is a list of our specific needs:

- 2 Volunteers in Toddler Room - Once Every 5 Weeks during the Worship Service - 1 Volunteer in Toddler Room - Wednesday Night Service Once a month - 1 Volunteers in Preschool Room - Once a Week assisting Anna Maddox during Equipping Hour - 2 Volunteers in Kindergarten Room -  Once a Week during Equipping Hour

What does it mean to follow Christ?

When we are gripped by the astonishing fact of Christ’s love for us, we desire to draw close to Him. But what can we do to deepen our relationship with Jesus? What does He expect of us? And how can we be more like Him? In Growing Your Faith, author Jerry Bridges, one of the most respected Bible teachers of our time, presents the essential elements of Christian life in a highly readable, surprisingly practical form. Jerry shows us how to:

• Feed our spiritual life through taking in the Scriptures • Rely on the Holy Spirit in obedience and prayer • Trust God during the trials of life • Contribute our unique gifts to serve others

When we more fully open our hearts to the truth of His gospel and acknowledge the role of the Holy Spirit in our pursuit of holiness, we can make genuine progress in our spiritual lives. And that’s a big part of what it means to follow Christ.

On Wednesday nights at the Bridge, Pastor Ken recently launched into a study of what is probably the most well-known portion of the Bible; the Ten Commandments. Few if any in the educated world have never heard of the Ten Commandments.  Sadly, however, most people, including many Christians, don’t even know them let alone live by them.

In light of the lawless times in which we live, there has never been a greater urgency for God’s people to clearly understand what the Ten Commandments mean and how they practically apply to our lives today. 

Join us for this life-changing series through Exodus 20 and learn how God’s Law serves as a foundation for the Christian life and how you can experience the joy of not feeling condemned by the Law but feeling compelled to keep the Law out of  love for Christ and by the power of the Holy Spirit who lives within us.

Time: Wednesday Nights Word of Life Club for Children (Pre K - 6th Grade) 6:30pm-8:00pm 220 for Students (7th - 12th Grade)

All Junior High and High School Students are invited to join us at this year’s Winter Camp February 6-8 at Camp Tejas in Giddings, Texas.

This will be an awesome weekend to get away and allow God’s Word to change and shape us together.  We’ll also have a blast and enjoy an opportunity to grow in relationships with one another! If you have grandchildren who would like to attend or students in your neighborhoods, please talk to Billy and we’d love to have them join us! The cost is $165. Scholarships are available, so please talk to Billy and don’t allow money to keep your student from joining us!

Guest Speaker

Ben Blakey serves as the Worship and College Pastor at Compass Bible Church in Aliso Viejo, CA. He loves the Lord and teaches His Word with joy and passion.  Ben has been serving at Compass for the past seven years and is married to Holly. They have a young daughter named Hannah. Ben will be speaking on the theme of Ambitious Faith from Hebrews 11 and 12.
