STEWARDSHIP - On Schedule: Do you have a planning calendar? Most of the people I know do have one. It hangs on the refrigerator or on the wall by the telephone, and every daily square is filled with notes like “Soc Prac” (which means soccer practice), “Dent. App.” (Dentist appointment), “T for Lf.” (Your guess is as good as mine!) I never promise to do anything without checking the planning calendar first. As I tell people, “If it’s not on the planning calendar, it does not happen.” (To be continued next week)

Names will remain on our sick list for four weeks unless we are notified by the family.

Anyone requesting a Prayer Shawl for a sick person is asked to call the Parish Center.

If you have a family member who is in a nursing home or rehabilitation center, please notify the Parish Center so we can arrange to visit them.

Please remember to place Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish in your Will. Those who generously did this in the past have helped us to stay out of a heavy debt and help to make our many ministries a reality.

"In the time prior to celebrating our Mass, as the parish family of Our Lady Queen of Peace,

you are invited to spend this time in quiet prayerful reflection, asking our Lady and her Son for peace in our world,

our country, our Church, our families, and in our hearts."

Funeral Liturgy (Mass of Christian Burial) pre-planning: Visit the Parish Center or check our website for information.

one can bring great pain. If you need bereavement counseling, please contact Deacon Joe at 201-845-9566, Ext. 119.

“PARENTS ARE THE FIRST TEACHERS OF THEIR CHILDREN”

CALL FOR CATECHISTS The Religious Education Ministry has a need for faith-filled, practicing Catholics who feel called to share the Word of God with the children of Our Lady Queen of Peace. We have openings in grades 2, 6 and 7 for the fall term. All volunteers must be interviewed and take the Protecting God’s Children workshop in order to serve in any parish ministry with children. Please contact Angela Connelly at the Office of Religious Education for further details about being a catechist.

TEACHER AIDES NEEDED High School students who would like to serve as teacher aides in grades 1 and 2 for the fall term should contact the Religious Education Office. You will need to interview and have your parent’s permission to serve as a teacher aide.

REGISTRATIONS FOR NEW YEAR Registration for the new 2019 – 2020 Religious Education year has begun. Forms are available at the Parish Center and on the parish website. Anyone new to the parish/program should contact the office at the above number/email to receive specific information regarding the program.

LESSON OF THE WEEK Each year our parish gives us the gift of a calendar at the beginning of the year. We automatically take one and hang it in our house. Most of us enjoy the pictures and many of us even read the beautiful words on each page. This year’s calendar from OLQP features the wisdom of our Holy Father Pope Francis. This week summer arrives along with many changes in daily routines. Change can sometimes be difficult, but God’s idea of change brings (re)-newness. The beautiful picture on the June calendar might remind us of when the Baptismal waters were poured over us and the newness of God’s Spirit came upon us. This week challenge yourself to do something new for God, your family, your neighbor, and your prayer life. And by the way, if you haven’t looked at the calendar’s previous pages, go back and read the beautiful words.

Children’s activity booklets are available in the back of the church

PRAYERS Please keep in your prayers all of our active

military personnel here and overseas. We especially pray for our own parishioners: Joshua Ashley, Alexa Caramb, Ryan O’Connell

May the Lord protect them in their service.

+ MAUSOLEUM NEWS +

Dear Friend in Christ, Madonna Cemetery has an addition to our existing Mausoleum, the first community mausoleum built in the Archdiocese of Newark, has served the needs of our local community for over forty years. The construction of an addition was necessary if we hoped to continue in this mission. The new expansion is called the "All Saints" section and there are several liturgical features of saints that represent the ethnic diversity of our community. There are also private and semi-private areas in the mausoleum addition and there are options for both single and double internment. Because we believe that pre-planning is an important family responsibility, we are offering cemetery counseling and information about the mausoleum. If you wish to have more information, please fill out the enclosed form in our brochure that will be at the rear of the Church. You may also contact Madonna Cemetery by dialing: 1-866-392-1951. Of course there is no obligation.

2019 Sharing God’s Blessings Annual Appeal Did you know that there is still time to support the

2019 Sharing God’s Blessings Annual Appeal? Our Lady Queen of Peace has received $24,704 in pledges. Thank you to those parishioners who have already shown your support and generosity. Will you join your fellow parishioners in supporting

this effort that strengthens many important programs and ministries across the Archdiocese of Newark? Our Goal, $41,361 can only be achieved

through YOUR generosity! If you have yet to give, please pick up a pledge form at the back of the

church or visit www.rcan.org/sharing. YOUR gift will truly make a difference. Thank you for your prayers and support.

SUPER 50/50 - Raffle tickets are available in envelopes at the door of the church or you can pick them up at the parish center. Please be sure to take one home with you and join in the fun and anticipation of winning a SUPER prize in September. Our drawings will be held on September 15th at 4 pm. Again there will be 3 drawings: first prize will be 25% of total; second prize will be 15% of total; and third prize will be 10% of total. This raffle is an important fundraiser in our parish. Each year it helps to meet many of the expenses that are incurred in the upkeep of our beautiful facilities. PLEASE SHARE THE TICKETS WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS and remember "You have to be in it to win it!" Thanks for your ongoing support.
