From the Desk of Father Ed:

Dear Parishioners, This Sunday we are celebrating another solemnity in the Church, that is, the Solemnity of Corpus Christi: The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. And so to emphasize the importance of this day we are having a Eucharistic Procession through the church parking lot, which will conclude with Benediction in the pavilion (Lunch to follow). St. Pope John Paul II recommended that Catholics participate in a procession on the Feast of Corpus Christi and taught, “Our faith in the God who took flesh in order to become our companion along the way needs to be everywhere proclaimed, especially in our streets and homes, as an expression of our grateful love and as an inexhaustible source of blessings.” The custom dates back to the feast of the Blessed Sacrament established in 1246 by the Bishop of Liege, Belgium, after Jesus told St. Juliana of Mont Carvillon she was to promote it. By 1264, Pope Urban IV extended the feast to the whole Church. (National Catholic Register June 20, 2017 Corpus Christi Processions are Making a Comeback. Joseph Pronechen) The Eucharistic Procession is a powerful way for us to show our faith, reverence, and love for Jesus’ True Presence in the Blessed Sacrament. It is the greatest gift that our God gives to us, that is, the gift of His very self. He desires to share His life with us and to abide in us. We should always be reverent and humble in the presence of our Lord. And most importantly we should be conscious of the state of our soul before receiving Him in the Eucharist. We do not want to bring condemnation upon us if we receive Him in the state of mortal sin or disgrace. Always go to the Sacrament of Reconciliation before receiving the King of kings and Lord of lords in the Most Holy Eucharist. This weekend we are reminded of how much we are loved by our God that He gives us a share in His very life and promises to remain with us forever. Parish Life: A special thanks to Jenn Durso, our Office Manager and the team of parishioners that helped to make Father Dulibber’s party a great success. We had over 200 people in attendance for the Mass of Thanksgiving and for the celebration afterwards. Many of the parishioners commented on how they enjoyed the celebration of Father Dulibber’s First Mass. Father Dulibber will be spending several weeks in Columbia with his family before he returns to begin his new assignment at one of the parishes in the Diocese. Please invite your high school teenagers and 8th graders to join us this Sunday at 6:00 pm for our youth group, Catholic Teens, Corpus Christi Celebration. Weather permitting, there will be an evening of fishing at the pond with campfire and barbecue. Our Lady Queen of Peace, pray for us, Father Ed, Pastor
