From your Pastor… Everyone has been waiting with great anticipation for the New Year 2021. The year 2020 has been awful. Many people have been anxious, frustrated, stressed, afraid, and sad because of the more than 50 million con-firmed cases of COVID-19 worldwide, plus the many mil-lions that have not been confirmed. This past year changed

our life styles and we are all eager to return to the way we lived before the pan-demic.

As we anticipate the New Year, we need to remember that no matter what happens we must live according to God’s plan for us. We learn this from Saint Paul who said, “I know indeed how to live in humble circumstances; I know also how to live with abundance. In every circumstance and in all things, I have learned the secret of being well fed and of going hungry, of living in abundance and of being in need. I have the strength for everything through him who empow-ers me” (Phil 4:12-13). It is in Him that we have to trust so that our future might be filled with the strength and grace of God no matter what comes.

This weekend we celebrate the manifestation of the Lord to the whole

world under the title of the “Epiphany of the Lord.” With this feast, the Lord tells us that he is among us and that we shouldn’t be afraid - everything that we will experience in the near future will be done in the presence of the Lord. Je-sus is with us and gives us what we need to live good Christian lives.

Faith is an important tool as we move into the future. With faith eve-

rything else becomes powerless. Faith helps us to keep things in perspective and focuses our attention on God and his will which is what Matthew Kelly ex-pressed in his book when he wrote, “God, what do you think I should do.” Mat-thew Kelly’s book entitled “I Heard God Laugh” was given to all our parish fam-ilies as a Christmas gift. Faith inspires us to ask the Lord how He wants us to live our lives and to worry less about controlling our plans and circumstances.

As we celebrate this feast of the Epiphany, let us ask God to renew the

gift of faith within us. May this faith lead us into a holy, happy and prosperous 2021. A blessed New Year to you all!

    Sincerely, Rev. Miguel Gonza lez

    CONFESIONES Leavenworth

    Sinceramente,

    Rev. Miguel Gonza lez
