'Tis More Blessed to Give . . . As you are planning your Christmas giving, please consider being a Tuition Angel. Your gift of support of a Catholic education is one that will be alive for generations. Many families are challenged to meet the tuition needs that accompany their commitment to a Catholic education for their children. Your tax-deductible donation supports students in their daily walk in faith. I personally thank you for your consideration and support of this spiritually rewarding gift of love and faith. On behalf of the OLS school family, I extend our best wishes for a happy and holy Christmas.

Donald Costantino, Principal

From Your Pastor and Priests Dear Parishioners: We come to our last full week of Advent and, while I know that so many of you will be keeping very busy with the preparations for the Christmas feast, I want to encourage you to slow down just a bit each day for prayer and reflection. We are providing an opportunity for the celebration of the Sacrament of Penance this week: Tuesday, December 21, at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows. A number of confessors will be available and I do hope we have a good response for this important preparation for Christmas. Please be sure to keep the Mass Schedule for Christmas on hand. We have retained a rather full schedule for Christmas Eve—in fact the same as last year, despite our “reduction” in staff. With an apostolic spirit, I hope you will invite others to join you to worship with us this Christmas!

With affection, Msgr. Tom Gervasio

Parish School News I'm sure you could hear the voices raised in song! Yes, OLS School was alive with song on Thursday evening at the annual Christmas musical. It wasn't just an ordinary day at the Tiny Bit of Heaven Motel in Bethlehem. (Actually, it's just a stable behind an inn that is run completely by animals!) Caesar's Census was underway, and there was about to be a life-changing event. Soon everyone came to learn the "Stranger in the Straw," Jesus Christ, had come to change the world. Our Christmas production was under the direction of Jay Kemmey, our music teacher, but we are not without thanks to the many hands that make this event a family gathering each year. Faculty members Gina Sheppard, at the piano, and Joann Dusenshine, as production assistant, guided the children from the Lower School to complete this beautiful evening. Our "back stage" crew was composed of our wonderful Middle School children, who supported the younger children from behind the magic curtains! Our talented art teacher, Kim Bowers, worked with a small group of parent volunteers to sew and assemble costumes for every child! (Yes, at OLS every child in grades Kindergarten through 4 is an active part of the presentation.) We are blessed to even have alumni parents, Cheryl and Dave Uhaze, bring their talents to props and decorations. This year's focus was the Noel Critters Motel sign that served as a beacon for the audience!

Such an exciting evening of song, instruments, props, and praise for the miracle of Christmas! Many hours of preparation are dedicated to this annual presentation, but the children are alive with the true message of Christmas. We also recognize our third grade teachers, Mrs. Heuisler and Mrs. Gehan, for preparing the Advent Mass for the entire school the morning before we enjoyed the joy of the school Christmas musical. Our Lady of Sorrows School is very active with the message of love for the Christmas season.

Adopt-a-Family Drop-Off Reminder Please bring your wrapped gifts to the school cafeteria this Sunday between noon and 2:30 p.m. Be sure to have the donation number and the child’s name on each item.

Thank you so much for your generosity!

Eucharistic Adoration

Our faith teaches us that Jesus remains present in his Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity, in the Sacrament that is reserved in the tabernacle.

Thursdays Are Days of Solemn Adoration The Blessed Sacrament will be placed upon the altar following the 7 a.m. Mass until Reposition at 6 p.m. All are invited to answer the Lord’s call…He wants us give Him the gift of our time. He wants us to come to Him bringing our needs, anxieties, joys, and thanks. Our Lady of Sorrows Church also is open during our office hours. Why not stop for even a brief moment to rejoice in the Lord’s Presence?

Faith in Our Future Lord Jesus Christ, Word of the Father, we turn to you. Watch over our plans. Enliven our service to the Church. Sustain our labors. Guide our steps in search of the best ways to proclaim your Gospel. Our poverty is great. We do not place trust in ourselves but only in you. Encourage us, reassure us, give us your blessing. You, who with the Holy Spirit, live and reign in us and in your Church forever and ever. Amen.

Remember those Less Fortunate

A life not lived for others is not a life. St Teresa of Kolkata

We have the opportunity to assist the needy within our own parish through the donations you make to the St. Vincent DePaul Conference.

At Saint Anthony Church—Permanent “Poor Boxes” are found at the doors of the church.

At Our Lady of Sorrows Church—A collection is taken up on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month. Green donation containers are found at the church doors.

Donations may also be made by placing a gift in the collection basket along with your parish contribution. It should be in a separate envelope that is clearly marked Poor Box. Checks should be made payable to OLS-St Anthony.

Great Lakes also has a “Scrip Now” option which provides you with a downloadable paper gift card, available for immediate use (you must pay online for this option). Traditional gift cards can also be “re-loaded” with online payment. There is no charge for this service and Our Lady of Sorrows School will receive a percentage for each card purchased. What an easy way to purchase groceries, gifts, and necessities and support our school at no additional cost. Questions? Please call Linda Campisi, OLS School bookkeeper, at 587-4140, ext 128.

The students of Our Lady of Sorrows School thank you for your support!
