PASTOR’S COLUMN

Dear Community of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, God’s love for us is so great, that the blessings He sends to us are beyond our imagi-nation. The Lord Jesus Christ walks with us, He frees us from all evil and gives us new life constantly.

“Blessed be the God and Father of Our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the Heavens …” Ephesians

In Christ, all of us are chosen by God, to live forever, to contemplate His glory forever.

“In Him … we were chosen …” Ephesians The power of the Eucharist is endless. Every time we come to Mass, we are em-braced by the love of God, that saves, and brings meaning to our lives. His Precious Blood gives us the strength to face all evil, and claim victory.

“In Him … we have salvation by His Blood …” Ephesians

Our Lady School News My brothers and sisters,

All teams in compe ve sports have trainers, who tells them what to do to win the victory. Jesus, in the Gospel wanted to begin His fight against the spirit of evil and formed his team, the Apostles and gave them instruc ons. He said that some things such as money, external appearance, food, were not the most important things. He told them that what was essen al was to be realis c and use a compari-son of only carrying their sandals and staff. With this recommenda on, Jesus indicates to us what should be our a tude, if you want to work for good and fight evil. Blessings, Deacon Carlos

PLAN AHEAD FOR SAFE, FUN SUMMER TRIPS

Amusement parks are great places to make mem-ories as a family, but it’s important to plan ahead to maximize fun and keep everyone safe. Go over the family rules in advance, and refresh informa on on the way there. Make sure that everyone follows the buddy system, with at least two people together at all mes. Pick a predetermined meet-up site in the event of separa ons, and show children where they can go for help (informa on desk, park security). Keep an eye out for any adults that may approach children, and stay on top of children’s loca ons at all

mes.

This year we celebrated the Feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Help with a Novena from June 18 un l June 27. We had a pilgrimage from our school to the church where Monsignor Lorenzo celebrated the Eucharist and thanked eve-ryone there for their par cipa-

on, invi ng them to prepare to celebrate with greater enthusi-asm next year.

CALLED TO MISSION As bap zed Chris ans, each of us is called to mis-sion. When Catholics hear the word “mission,” most usually think of those who go to foreign countries to serve and share their faith. Some might also think of a parish mission, a me of focused reflec on, usual-ly led by a visi ng speaker. Remember the o en-quoted line from Mission Impossible, “Your mission, should you choose to accept it”? Some mes we use the word mission to describe our purpose or goal, what we have been charged to do. Thinking of mis-sion in this way makes our call as Chris ans clearer. Our mission is to live as Chris an people, to share our faith, to be people of service, and to show Christ’s love to others in the ways that we live our daily lives. The choice to live as people of mission is ours. How do you, or will you, live as a person of mission? CALLED TOGETHER No ce that the disciples in today’s Gospel were sent out two by two. This was not only a prac cal thing for Jesus to do as he sent the disciples out to preach, teach, and heal. It was also very spiritual, for being sent on mission together with another en-genders mutual support. We live and grow in faith in deeper and more las ng ways when we are in community with others. Not only is our rela onship with Jesus personal, it is also communal—we are drawn into communion with Christ, through and with the community of faith. Being part of a com-munity offers us the strength and perspec ve found in rela onship with others. We find support, en-couragement, and consola on in trying mes; we more readily challenge one another to live the gos-pel call to follow Jesus with our lives. What is your mission? With whom are you called? Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc
