SCHEDULES CLERGY SACRAMENTS

The Joy of the Advent Season

The Third Sunday of Advent is the Sunday of joy. This Sunday we have the

anticipation of the coming feast of the Lord’s Nativity. The color of the vest-

ments for the Sunday Mass is Rose, the symbol of the joy of the Lord. The

themes of the Mass readings are all about exultation and rejoicing. John the

Baptist is still our advent guide leading us to Jesus Christ. The rose candle of

the Advent Wreathe is also lighted to remind us that Jesus is the light of the

world.

Many of us are busy and tied up with preparing for the coming festivities. Let

us keep in mind the reason we celebrate Advent and Christmas. It is to wor-

ship God and make Him the priority of this event. Let us not be deceived with

the joy that the secular world is offering; rather let us search for the true happi-

ness that will give us peace. He is the Emmanuel, the prince of peace.
