“It is Mary on whom the rosary is centered in a focus ever new. This prayer means a lingering in the world of Mary, whose essence was Christ. In this way, the Rosary is, in its deepest sense, a prayer of Christ.”

Please be mindful of not shaking others’ hands for the Sign of Peace when you are sick and could pass on germs, especially during flu season. No one is obligated to shake hands at the sign of peace. As an alternative to
shaking hands, you may simply bow to those around you and say, “Peace be with you.” If your fellow parishioners decide upon this option, do not be offended, as it is merely for sanitary concerns and is not personal. You may also want to consider not taking the Blood of Christ while you are sick.

Next Weekend’s Second Collection
World Mission Sunday Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
In this centenary year of the Apostolic Letter on the Missions, Maximum Illud - On the Activities of Missionaries in the World, our Holy Father Pope Francis has called this month, October 2019, an Extraordinary Missionary Month.
It is the hope of our Holy Father that this moment “prove an intense and fruitful occasion of grace, and promote initiatives and above all prayer, the soul of all missionary activity”, and that this moment help to advance “practical works of cooperation and solidarity between Churches, so that missionary zeal may revive and never be wanting among us”. (Pope Francis, Letter on the Centenary of the Promulgation of Maximum Illud, 22 October 2017)
This October 19 & 20, we celebrate World Mission Sunday, within this Extraordinary Missionary Month. It is an opportunity for all of us in the Diocese of Las Vegas to show our cooperation and solidarity with the mission Churches throughout the world. Our second collection on that Sunday, through the Society for the Propagation of the Faith, is a great sign of our Catholicity and of our common responsibility for the evangelization of the world.
We are all called through our Baptism to be part of the Church’s missionary efforts, to plant, as we hear in the Holy Gospel today, the holy faith on the earth (Luke 18:8).
I thank you for your prayers, your most treasured gift to the missions. And thank you for your help and charity on this World Mission Sunday, supporting mission priests, religious sisters and brothers, and lay catechists, Christ’s witnesses to a world so in need of his healing, love, and peace.
May the Lord bless you and your families for living, faithfully and generously, your vocation as baptized Catholics, loving Jesus and His Church. Sincerely yours in the Risen Lord, + George Leo Thomas Bishop of Las Vegas
The Southern Nevada Guild of the Catholic Medical Association invites you to the Annual Diocesan

To RSVP or for more information, please email [email protected].
