A Note From The Pastor… I wrote these words on
Easter Sunday evening
a'er several busy days of
Triduum and Easter
Liturgies. I am grateful to
everyone who helped
make our worship so
meaningful and special.
Thanks to Rita Byrd, the
other musicians, and
choirs for the music which
was so moving and
inspiring, helping us all
enter into the sacred
mysteries we celebrate.
Thanks to Emily and Don
DuPree for all that they do, as well as to Juanita Alfaro and the Art and Environment Team –
the Church was so beau#fully decorated. I also thank all those who par#cipated in the
liturgies: the Deacons, Lectors, Extraordinary Eucharis#c Ministers, Altar Servers, and Ushers
– we couldn’t do it all without you!
Today we celebrate the Second Sunday of Easter. On April 30, 2000, Pope St. John Paul II
named this Sunday “Divine Mercy Sunday,” when he canonized St. Faus#na. Pope St. John
Paul II described this day with these words: “In a special way, it is the Sunday of thanksgiving
for all the goodness that God has shown us in the whole Easter mystery.”
This Sunday, April 3rd, we will have a Holy Hour from 3:00 to 4:00PM in the Church.
Fr. Ed Pelrine has graciously agreed to hear Confessions. Please consider a"ending this
“crowning” celebra#on of the whole Easter mystery. The Lord Jesus promised St. Faus#na
great graces to those who go to Confession [as close to the Feast as possible, or within one
week], and receive Holy Communion on this day.
We will also have the Image of Divine Mercy at the Holy Hour. It will be blessed, and an
opportunity will be given for people to venerate it, as our Lord had asked. Again, great Divine
Mercy is available for those who approach and venerate the Image with trust in Jesus’ mercy.
I wish you all con#nued Easter Blessings.
God Bless,
Fr. Paul
4 Welcome to Our Lady of Humility Catholic Church
Feast Of
The Divine Mercy Reminder Please join us this Sunday, April 3rd, on
the Feast of the Divine Mercy, at 3PM. We
will celebrate God’s love with a Holy Hour
and Benedic#on. All are welcome!
Prayer Of Entrustment
To The Divine Mercy O Lord, our God,
We place our trust in You,
because You are mercy itself.
We repent of our sins, and turn to
You for mercy.
We trust You to provide for our
every need, according to Your will.
Help us to forgive others
as You forgive us.
We promise to be merciful by
our deeds, words, and prayers.
Though we have fears because of human weakness,
we rely on Your infinite goodness and mercy.
We entrust to You the future of our planet, our Church, our na"ons,
our families, and all our needs.
With loud cries, we implore Your mercy on us and on the whole world.
Look upon us, created in Your image and likeness.
Form us in the Heart of Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit
into the living images of mercy.
May all come to know the depth of Your mercy,
and sing the praises of Your mercy forever.
Amen!

Our Lady Of Humility School
2016-2017 Registra!on As a Catholic School in the Archdiocese of Chicago, Our Lady of Humility
School is proud to provide an educa#onal choice for families who are looking
for a small Catholic School where children are treated like family, and an
emphasis is placed on community. For the past fi'y-eight years, families
have enrolled their children at our school because they recognize the
difference the right school makes in the lives of their children. While much
has changed since 1958, one thing that hasn’t changed, is the care and
compassion we have for our students, and our commitment to educa#ng the
“whole child”. While academics are rigorously emphasized, equally important
is the social, spiritual, physical, and moral development of each child.
Our teachers, all of whom are state cer#fied and highly educated, u#lize a
research based curriculum and best prac#ces to maximize the talents of each
child. Accredited by the Archdiocese of Chicago, and recognized by the State
of Illinois, we embrace the changes of an evolving world, while educa#ng
children to appreciate a faith tradi#on that is over 2,000 years old.
Our Lady of Humility School is truly, “Catholic and Excellent”. Registra#on
for the 2016-2017 School Year is now taking place. For more informa#on,
contact our School Office at (847) 746-3722, or E-mail Mr. Browne, Principal,

you regarding our Preschool, Kindergarten, or Elementary
School Program.

Archbishop Cupich is asking for your

Buckets Of Bucks! As you all know, some of the Teens from our Teen Ministry
are spending a week this summer at Catholic HEART Workcamp.
That’s a week away from family, friends, and relaxa#on! They
are willingly trading the comforts of home, for an air ma"ress on
the floor – taking #me out of their summer, #me off of jobs, and
missing summer fun to assist those in need. Next weekend, April 9th and
10th, a'er all the Masses, can you spare a dollar, and get some real change
in the world for your buck? The Teens will be holding paint buckets at the
Church exits for our Bucket of Bucks fundraiser.
The Christ First Peer Ministers and Adult Planning Team hope you all had a
very Blessed Happy Easter. May the joy of our Risen Christ fill your hearts to
overflowing! Remember to always keep Christ first in your lives! Peace!

Liturgy Of The Word For Children A couple of weeks ago, there was an explana#on of our prac#ce of dismissing the children
for Liturgy Of The Word in the bulle#n. There was a request for more adults and teens to get
involved in the ministry. With more people, we will be able to expand the ministry to include a wider age group,
which was requested by some parents.
So far no one has volunteered, so we will con#nue the prac#ce as is, namely ministering to 3 years old
through 8 years old, un#l we recess for the Summer. The request for more people to get involved s#ll stands
with the hope to expand the age group in the Fall.

SWALCO — Solid Waste Agency Of Lake County, Illinois
SWALCO Discon!nues Electronic Recycling Program
Due To Lack Of Funds A'er subsidizing the Electronics Recycling Program with local tax
dollars to comply with a State Law manda#ng electronics recycling, the
Solid Waste Agency of Lake County’s (SWALCO) Board of Directors is
discon#nuing the program due to lack of funds.
The Board held an emergency mee#ng on March 3rd to discuss op#ons, and decided to close its’ five remaining
collec#on sites effec#ve May 1, 2016.
“The Agency was faced with an unan"cipated mandate to pay for collec"ng electronics, and regre%ably we cannot
afford to pay more when we are already providing nearly $150,000 per year in manpower, and equipment at the five
collec"on sites,” said SWALCO Chairman Larry Mount, a Round Lake Beach Trustee.
SWALCO is working with a group of nearly 15 other units of local government throughout the State that also collect
electronics to amend the current State Law to ensure be"er access to Electronic Collec#on Programs, and to address
the lack of funding to pay for the recycling.
According to Walter Willis, SWALCO Execu#ve Director, “It is our goal to work with the other stakeholders,
including the electronics manufacturers and recyclers, to develop a more sustainable program so that our residents are
able to comply with the law, which currently bans 18 items from the landfill, including TV’s.”
Willis added, “A*er May 1st, Lake County residents will face challenges due to the lack of recycling op"ons,
especially TV’s, and that has SWALCO and its’ members very concerned. Worsening the situa"on, is Best Buy’s recent
discon"nua"on of accep"ng old TV’s from Illinois residents.”
The SWALCO Board of Directors indicated it will con#nue to evaluate op#ons to keep its’ program opera#ng a'er
May 1st, but at this point, the Agency does not have an op#on that does not involve significant costs. The Agency will
develop and post a list of loca#ons in or near Lake County that accept electronics, though most loca#ons, such as Best
Buy, Staples, and Goodwill, will likely not accept TV’s.
In the mean#me, Lake County residents should con#nue to use the five collec#on sites located in Waukegan,
Highland Park, Grayslake, Grant Township, and Cuba Township, which will remain open un#l May 1st. Informa#on on
the loca#on and hours for the collec#on sites can be found on the website: www.swalco.org.
“Lake County residents have created the largest and most successful Electronics Collec"on Program in the State, we
are very proud of the program, and to see it likely come to an end is very disappoin"ng,” Willis said.
