Althoughbeingcontinuouslydissuadedbythosearoundhim,BartimaeushasfaiththatJesuswillhearhim,hasfaiththatJesusistheSonofDavidwhohaspower,hasfaiththatJesuswillhavepityonhim,andhasfaiththatJesuswillhealhim.Asaresult,hisfaithwasrewarded,evenmorethanhethoughtheneededbyJesusassuringhimofbeingsaved.Bartimaeus’actionswerethemanifestationofhisfaith,beliefthatJesushasthepowertogranteveryrequestbecauseGodhearsourcriesandwillrespondtothem.Inreturn,Jesus’actionsareamanifestationofhissavingpowerinresponsetoanother’sfaith.

Inourjourneyofdiscipleship,withoutpersistenceinprayerandseekingencounterswithJesus,itwillbeimpossibleforustofaithfullyfollowHim.EncounterswithJesusinprayerkeepourrelationshiptohimgrowing;keepourrelationshipwithhimhealthyandstrong.Faithistheinsightandcauseofaction.Andso,itmustbeforusasaresponsetoJesus’callforallofustobehisfaithfuldisciples,inwhateverthatcapacitymaybe.
