Message from Our Pastor

My Dear Family of Our Lady of Lourdes,

Happy Easter! He who was born of the Virgin Mary, who was baptized by John in the Jordan, who went about doing good – healing the sick, casting out demons, forgiving sins - who was crucified, who died and was buried has risen! By dying He has destroyed our death, and by rising, restored our life. Filled with the joy of a people redeemed we go out to all the world singing anew the “Alleluia”; for Jesus Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! I had the good fortune of once being in the Holy Land for Easter. They have a tradition there that expresses beautifully our need to share this great news, to share the joy. The whole town awaits the celebration of the Easter Vigil and the arrival of the light of Christ with great anticipation. As the people gather for the lighting of the new fire “runners” also gather. These runners are poised to be the first to bring the good news of the Resurrection, the light of Christ, to the world. Once the Paschal Candle is lit they are right there to receive the light of Christ as it begins to be passed. They light their torches and literally take off running to carry the new light to all the neighborhood homes and businesses. Even at the local business people are waiting at the front door to receive the new light of Christ from the runners. They light their candles from the light that was brought, bring it into their homes and businesses (In the restaurants they then light the candles at all the tables with the light of Christ) and share it with their neighbors and friends who have gathered. I find that image very powerful. We are joyful for the life we have in the risen Lord and true joy must be shared. We too must be runners. Let us go forth from this Easter celebration and bring the light of Christ to the homes and businesses of Miami. Let us share the Good News: Exult, let the earth exult, Jesus Christ the lord is risen. He is risen indeed! God Bless you,

Mensaje de Nuestro Párroco

Mi Querida Familia de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes,

¡Felices Pascuas de Resurrección!

Él que nació de la Virgen María, que fue bautizado por Juan en el Jordán, quien anduvo haciendo el bien - sanando a los enfermos, echando fuera demonios, perdonando los pecados - que fue crucificado, muerto y sepultado, ¡ha resucitado! Al morir ha destruido nuestra muerte, y al resucitar, ha restaurado nuestra vida. Llenos de la alegría de un pueblo redimido salimos a todo el mundo cantando de nuevo el "Aleluya", porque ¡Jesucristo ha resucitado! ¡Él ha resucitado! Tuve la buena fortuna de estar una vez en Tierra Santa para la Pascua. Tienen una tradición que expresa bellamente nuestra necesidad de compartir esta gran noticia, de compartir la alegría. Todo el pueblo espera la celebración de la Vigilia Pascual y la llegada de la luz de Cristo con gran anticipación. Mientras la gente se reúne para encender el fuego nuevo, los "corredores" también se reúnen. Estos corredores están a punto de ser los primeros en llevar la buena nueva de la resurrección, la luz de Cristo, para el mundo. Una vez que el Cirio Pascual se enciende ellos están ahí para recibir la luz de Cristo, cuando comienza a pasarse a todos. Encienden sus antorchas y, literalmente, salen corriendo a llevar la nueva luz a todos los hogares y negocios del vecindario. Incluso los empresarios locales están esperando en la puerta de sus negocios para recibir la nueva luz de Cristo de los corredores. Ellos encienden sus velas de la luz que se ha traído, las colocan en sus hogares y empresas (en los restaurantes ellos encienden las velas en todas las mesas con la luz de Cristo) y la comparten con sus vecinos y amigos que se han reunido. Me parece que la imagen es muy poderosa. Estamos alegres de la vida que tenemos en el Señor resucitado y la verdadera alegría debe ser compartida. Nosotros también debemos ser corredores. Salgamos de esta celebración de la Pascua y llevemos la luz de Cristo a los hogares y negocios de Miami. Vamos a compartir la Buena Nueva: Aclamen, que la tierra aclame, que Jesucristo el Señor ha resucitado. ¡Él ha resucitado!

Objetivos: El curso intentará un estudio interdisciplinario de la antropología cristiana y la religiosidad popular, tomando

en cuenta el trabajo de la Teología, Antropología, Historia y otras ciencias sociales contemporáneas. Un breve estudio de

Cristología servirá como marco para una comprensión de quién es el ser humano; quién es Dios y cuál es la relación en-

tre la naturaleza y la gracia.

También se estudiará lo que constituye una auténtica experiencia religiosa y finalmente, se verán las estructuras funda-

mentales de la religiosidad popular y el catolicismo oficial, buscando pautas

y sugerencias para la evangelización.

Adoring Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, “Just One Hour”

When we come before Jesus exposed in the Blessed Sacrament, we come to Him as we are. He already knows us. He has called us to Himself. He ardently loves us and longs to be with us. Jesus wants to see us “face to face” to commune with us “heart to heart,” not like it was a long distance phone call. He wants to listen to us, to love, heal and care for us. All of our cares are His cares. All of our joys are His joys. All of our concerns are His concerns. All of our loved ones are His loved ones.

“Come to me all of you who are weary and find life burdensome and I will refresh you.” Mt 11:28; “Cast all your anxieties on Him for He cares about you.” 1 Peter 5:7

Adorando a Jesús en el Santísimo Sacramento “Sólo una Hora”

Cuando venimos frente a Jesús expuesto en el Santísimo Sacramento, venimos hacia El tal como somos. El ya nos conoce. El nos llama hacia Si. Nos ama ardientemente y añora estar con nosotros. Jesús nos quiere ver “cara a cara” para estar en comunión con nosotros de “corazón a corazón”, no como una llamada a larga distancia. El quiere escucharnos, amarnos, sanarnos y cuidar de nosotros. Lo que es importante para nosotros lo es también para El. Nuestros gozos son Sus gozos. Nuestra preocupaciones son Sus preocupaciones. Aquellos que amamos son amados también por El.
