2015 IN THIS ISSUE MAKING NATIONS OUR PRAYER PRIORITY Issue 1/2015

I continue to stand amazed at our God’s omniscience. Not only at the size of His plans—of which we only see a small part—but also at His ability to guide and provide for us in His mercy and in line with His heart that longs for us to partner with Him in establishing His Kingdom.

I think back to the first hesitant steps of faith in 2000 of the forerun-ner to Unlimited Prayer Frontiers (United Prayer for France); the many people who joined us for fo-cused, strategic intercession in France and how we all gained first-hand experience of the relentless nature of God’s love and His inten-tional release of the supernatural.

Now, in 2015, my prayers for UPFSA contain this additional request: Lord, send help and give us fresh, profound wisdom.

Proverbs 14:8 declares that the wis-dom of the prudent is to understand His way. How I crave that in 2015, we will effectively access God's wis-dom to understand the road He has set before us. We earnestly seek Godly insights on how to invest our time and effort into endeavours that would not merely accomplish good results. We feel the urgency to zeal-ously commit to pouring ourselves into activities and strategies that will greatly contribute to the estab-

lishing of God's kingdom in individuals and nations for many years to come! We need to leave indelible marks in the landscapes of communities and nations. We must honour our Saviour by serving sacrificially, by giving that which costs us much and thus through the Spirit pave the way for many king-dom accomplishments in the future.

Let's not just run the race, let us con-sider our steps as we passionately attempt to accomplish the task set before us.

UPFSA’s tent pegs have expanded to now include prayer missions in our home town of Pretoria; other towns in South Africa; African countries and countries further afield. I thank the Lord for Crystal Strydom’s help and others who help where they can to organise, lead, do and pray with us.

With the prayer journeys, develop-ment and distribution of training re-sources, and other ministry opportu-nities, 2015 promises to be a year of moving out of comfort zones (again!) and even greater reliance on God for wisdom and favour.

I pray that you will join us this year and be part of His redemption adven-ture for the nations!

groups of people: Those who commit to meet reg-ularly to develop a prayer model and strategy from Scripture and revelation to pray for the city more effectively (called the Model Team); and those who continue to go out into the city to pray in areas that need God’s intervention and light (called the Move Team).

Members should commit

but are welcome to also

The Pretoria Prayer Force (PPF) is calling believers in Pretoria/Tshwane to take up their Scriptural re-sponsibility to pray con-stantly, strategically and effectively for their city until God’s purposes come to full manifesta-tion.

Functioning since the ear-ly 2000’s, the PPF draws its mandate from Jeremi-ah 33:8-9.

During the planning meeting for 2015, the Lord further refined the approach in that PPF now makes provision for two

8 And I will cleanse them from all the guilt and iniquity by which they have sinned against Me, and I will forgive all their guilt and iniquities by which they have sinned and rebelled against Me. 9 And [Jerusalem] shall be to Me a name of joy, a praise and a glory before all the nations of the earth that hear of all the good I do for it, and they shall fear and tremble because of all the good and all the peace, prosperity, security, and stability I

provide for it.

In our last newsletter we gave feedback of the prayer

journey to Lydenburg. We hope to arrange another journey this year to strengthen believers there.

Later in February a small

team will visit Orania in the Northern Cape. UPFSA re-ceived a request for prayer assistance from local believ-ers in Orania and are looking forward to seeing what is on the Lord’s heart for this town.

From 28 June to 13 July, a

team will visit the Grahams-town Arts Festival.

The purpose is to work with Operation Mobilisation and local believers in Grahams-town to provide prayer sup-port to artists participating in the festival. Participating, believing artists shared their desire for seeing a way pre-pared for the Lord and for the Lord to remove idolatry and restore true worship of Jesus Christ in lives, the arts and in churches in Grahams-town.

Those who would like to be part of this prayer journey can contact Crystal Strydom at 012 345 2288 or na-

[email protected] or down-load an application form. Crystal says, “Participants will have to commit to 12 weekly preparation meet-ings before leaving for Gra-hamstown.”

She explains, “Preparation is essential for the success of the team as it helps to build team unity, establish healthy group dynamics, help members to be sensi-tive in a corporate setting to the leading of the Holy Spirit in developing a prayer strat-egy, and lightens the burden of administrative and logis-tical issues. Members will

also receive relevant teach-ings, research and study information related to the Arts Festival.”

Costs are R2 500 per person (includes R250 non-refund-able deposit). Accommoda-tion costs are still being finalised.

Prayer journeys into Africa —initially started by Moving into Action (MIA)—continues.

Last year we reported on the journey to Tanganyika Lake and we hope to plan another journey later in the year. About MIA MIA is a platform supporting the movement of taking the Gospel call of Jesus North. MIA wants to make this task easier by connecting individu-als, churches, outreach groups, ministries, organisa-tions and initiatives through-

out southern and northern Africa. Opportunities include outreach and mission expo-sure experiences, networking and training.

In 2012 a pilot project helped to mobilise and send more than 640 people on a mission exposure trip to 18 countries in Africa, south of the equator. In addition, prayer teams visit-ed each of the 22 southern countries and assisted in the development of a database representing almost 200 enti-ties.

This new image of Europe, Africa, and the Middle East at night is a composite assembled from data acquired by the Suomi NPP satellite in April and October 2012. (www.nasa.gov)

Reminds one of Psalm 14:2 “The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men to see if there were any who understood, dealt wisely, and sought after God, inquiring for and of Him and requiring Him [of vital necessity].”

Europe

A prayer journey to Germany is planned for 3-14 September 2015. Local believers of Ger-man/Polish descent are espe-cially encouraged to join the team to pray back into their spiritual roots and through the spiritual darkness over that na-tion.

“Those wishing to join us for the German prayer journey must be fit—we will be walking long dis-tances and climb a lot of stairs every day!” warns Crystal.

Directly afterwards, from 14-28 September, believers can join a

prayer journey to The Nether-lands. Those of Dutch descent are encouraged to join.

“The Dutch believers are trusting the Lord for revival (‘ontwaking’) and are resolved to see their nation serve God. They are determined that their nation will not be relinquished to the enemy!”

In September/October believers, espe-cially those with Huguenot ancestry, can join a 16-day prayer journey to

France. The purpose of strategic pray-er is to pray into the destruction of demonic influences; and to pray for the French to be awakened and turn to God in this opportune but challenging time.

Leon says, “We want to stir local be-lievers with Huguenot ancestry to join the team to pray back into their spiritu-al roots and discover the faith of their

forefathers.

In progress: Leadership

training

The UPFSA Annual General Meeting identified the need for adding leadership training to its basket of offerings. Members are now in the process of compiling a Prayer Journey Leadership toolkit to more successfully run prayer journeys in the future.

Leon Coetzee comments, “If you have had exposure to and experience in prayer journeys the past couple of years we want to invite you to be part of this process. We believe that your various experiences, your background and leadership skills will contribute to compiling wisdom, protocols and best practices that would equip prayer tour leaders for future projects. Your input and participation will be of great value to us!”

Those able to assist can contact Leon at [email protected].
