In October 4 teachers from our school – Mrs Arnold, Mr Gill, Miss Smith and Ms Shaw – went to visit Denmark to meet other teachers from Iceland, Scotland and Denmark. This was part of the ‘Healthy mind, body and soul’ themed week we had.

In November, Seaton Burn students completed a ‘food and exercise’ diary.

Year 7’s Learning for Life students learnt about our partners. Year 8’s Citizenship lessons were based on this too.

Students visited the Longbenton CLC to produce ‘Crazy Talk’ animations and movies.

We held a Northumbrian Evening at the school. There was Morris Dancing, Northumbrian Country Dancing, local produce and broth. Students involved sold tickets to other students, parents and grandparents.

The castle stands on a steep hill over looking the river Tyne. This castle has been occupied for over 2000 years. From the mid 2nd century until the beginning of the 5th century a Roman fort –stood here, guarding the river crossing below. The Roman bridge was probably where the Swing Bridge now stands. The castle was built in stone during the reign of Henry II, between 1168 and 1178, at a cost of £1,144. This gave the castle the keep and the curtain wall, with a gatehouse (Bailey Gate) near the south-west corner of the keep. Other northern castles rebuilt at this time were Norham, Bambrugh and Prudhoe.

1. We prepared the ingredients by peeling and chopping the onions, carrots, and potatoes. Then chopping the celery and ham shank into chunks.

2. Next we added the vegetable stock, all the vegetables, the ham, the barley and a pinch of salt and pepper.

3. We cooked this on a medium heat for around an hour. We then removed it from the heat and allowed it to cool.

4. The next day it was the Northumbrian evening so we reheated it for about 15 minutes before we served it.

Do you exercise ?Well if you do that’s great but if you don’t maybe you

should start.

Here are some sports you could try to stay fit.....

Football-You stay really active and you get to meet new people.

Rugby-it helps strengthen your muscles and keeps you fit and healthy.

Swimming-make your muscles more powerful and makes your heart stronger.

Tennis-this takes someone with a lot of energy and is quick on their feet but it is fun to do!
