Who can be counted
People who should be counted
• Babies, foster kids, or roommates
• People who are living with you that have no other place to stay
• People living in your home most of the time, even when they have another place to stay
People who shouldn’t be counted
• College students that are away from home while attending college
• People in the military living somewhere else
• People who live or stay at another place most of the time

Why its important to be apart of the census
• The census is important to be apart of because they need to know how many people there are in the United States
• How many schools and teachers we need in that area for the students
• They need to know how many buildings they need to build in a area so people can get jobs

• The census is taken once every 10 years
• Your information is kept private, and if census takers share it they are fined and sent to jail
• The information is kept for 72 years
• Census Bureau uses many security measures to protect this information
• Census workers are sworn to secrecy
