2/3 News Term 1 has been exciting in 2/3 H. I have thoroughly
enjoyed having your children for the time that Mrs
Halliday is away. We have been working on lots of things
including our humpies that the students displayed at
assembly. They had lots of fun constructing them. In
numeracy we have been working on many things including
time (analogue), measurement and 2D shapes to name a
few. In literacy we are working on our hand writing and
focusing on becoming better writers in learning sprints.
They are really enjoying Charlie and the Chocolate
Factory.
The students and I are getting to know each other now.
We have fun while learning in 2/3H!
P & C Members needed before Monday night! The Paterson Public School P & C is an organization made up of volunteers from our school community. Our P & C organizes our one major school fundraiser, a stall at the Tocal Field days, it runs the school canteen and contributes in countless other ways to our beautiful school.
Without members however, the P & C cannot run. We need at least five members to attend the P & C meetings for them go ahead. And we need paid up financial members to vote at our AGM on Monday, 18th March to elect this years office holders. Financial member of the P&C are also the only participants who can vote on what the P&C spends its hard raised money on - so come and have your say!
If you become a member, don't worry! You don't have to attend every meeting. You don't have to volunteer for every event held. All we ask is for as much or as little of your time that you can spare to ensure that our P&C can continue to operate and keep up its amazing work!
All you need to do to become a member for this year is to fill out the membership form attached to this newsletter (or available at the office) and pay $1 – BEFORE THE P & C AGM ON MONDAY 18 MARCH. Even if you have been a member in that past, you will need to complete a form and pay your dollar for this year. That’s it!

Well Done Cameron!
I attended an invitation only to the Newcastle Permanent
Maths camp at Myuna Bay on the 9th and 10th March. This
was because I did well in the Newcastle Permanent Maths
Competition last year.
I got to meet about ninety other kids from all over NSW.
Some were as far away as Dubbo and Armidale. We did heaps
of sport and maths. We had lots of fun.

Congratulations to our cricket team on a convincing win against Vacy on Wednesday, and to our cattle judging
team for their success at Gresford Show last Friday. Many thanks to Mr Lowrey for co-ordinating both teams.
National Day of Action Against Bullying
Today our school marked the National Day of Action Against Bullying. All students participated in class lessons
and activities to deepen their understanding of bullying and anti-bullying strategies. If you would like to follow up
at home, the ‘Bullying. No Way!’ website has a range of excellent resources for parents and kids, and can be
accessed at https://bullyingnoway.gov.au/
Communication About Learning Survey
We are up to 26 responses to our survey. Please help by clicking the link on our Facebook Page or typing the URL
to access the survey. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/K5LTFJY
Polling Booth Cake Stall
On Saturday, 23rd March year 6 will host a cake stall outside our school hall which is a polling booth for the NSW
State Election. Funds raised will go towards purchasing an end of year gift to the school which will be used by all
students. It would be much appreciated if you could donate baked goods for the stall. They can either be dropped
off on the morning of the stall (we expect to operate from 8am to 12pm) or left at school the day before if they
are suitable to be kept refrigerated overnight. All year 6 students should have brought home a note requesting
assistance to run the stall, if you are a year 6 family who did not receive the note and you are available to help,
please phone the office.
Harmony Week Activities
Harmony Week celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity and shares a message of inclusivity, respect and a sense
of belonging for everyone. It takes place next week, and our school will be sharing a celebration with Paterson
Community Pre-School. Each day next week, classes will visit the Pre-School and vice versa, and will join in with a
range of activities to promote the idea that everyone belongs.
School Cross Country
Our cross country carnival takes place next Friday, 22nd March at beginning of the school day. All families are
welcome as either spectators or to assist in running the event.
Art Classes in Term 2
Next term, we will host lunch time art classes each Monday. These classes are run by a local artist and qualified
teacher, Marguerite Tierney. If you would like your child to participate, please contact Marguerite directly,
details are included on the back page of the newsletter.
With thanks, Mrs. Hazell,
Principal
Well done Tayla! On the 10th ,11th and 12th of March I competed at the
NSW Interschool’s Championships. Some of the best riders
from across NSW came togetber to try and secure a position
on the NSW Team to comete at the National Championships
in October. They will only select four riders for each height.
After a rough start with slippery grounds and not the best
rounds on Sunday, on Monday I managed to get a 4th place in
my 80cm class and on Tuesday I got a 2nd in my 90cm (by 0.2
seconds). Each day I competed in an 80cm and 90cm class.

March 2019
Dear Parents & Caregivers,
Paterson Public School P & C understand that everyone’s lives are very busy and that families are often
stretched financially throughout the year.
We do however acknowledge that our School is always in need of additional funds to help purchase
resources to ensure our beautiful little School stays relevant and provides our children with the
resources they need to receive a quality education.
Therefore we try and limit the amount of fundraising activities we do throughout the year to ensure
our families are not stretched financially or for time whilst also raising as much money for our School
as possible.
Every year Paterson Public School P & C run a raffle at Steamfest and stall at Tocal Field Days. This is
our Schools major fundraiser and in the past has raised over $15,000.00 with some of these proceeds
used to purchase new ipads and computers for our school.
This fundraiser is a massive undertaking but is lots of fun and is a great way to catch up with the other
parents whilst also helping our School. All we ask from our families is some of their time.
We will send out more detailed notes within the next couple of weeks but in the meantime we ask that
you please complete the back of this form and return to the School to help us get started with
our planning.
We appreciate as little or as much help you can offer. If you have any friends or family that might be
able to help out we will not say no.
The more helpers we get the less work load everyone has to do. It is a big undertaking but it is only for
a few days of our lives and in the end the money we raise goes toward the education of ALL OF OUR
CHILDREN.
PLEASE COMPLETE THE FORM ON THE BACK OF THIS LETTER AND RETURN TO THE
SCHOOL ASAP.

STEAMFEST
Please don’t be scared by the idea of selling raffle tickets. We DO NOT ask you to hassle people as they walk past. We set up the buggy and a table and honestly the buggy itself sells the tickets. You just have to be there to help write the names on the tickets and take the money. We require at least 2 people on each shift and will also require a trailer to take the buggy to and from Steamfest both days.
Please tick where you think you might be able to help out.
TOCAL FIELD DAYS
If you can help out for one full day that would be awesome but we understand that this is not always possible. Our busiest time is obviously lunch time and requires quite a lot of helpers.
Would you be able to donate home-baked cakes / slices? yes / no
Which day/days can you provide cakes/slices? Fri / Sat / Sun
If you have a preference for where you work, please indicate below:
Hot food tent / cake tent / sandwich prep at school / drinks trailer / raffle
I am interested in helping the committee with organising yes / no
