“Running at the beach”The concept for this piece came on one of my regular home-work-home train travels.Sketched it on my sketchbook and then passed it into Photoshop for the complete illustration. I wanted it to be really detailed and realistic, so I guess I came close to the objective.

Gato das BotasThis piece was made for a local theater company. They wanted an image for a “Puss in Boots” play, so this was my idea for it. Too bad it never got used because they cancelled the play.

Cremilde, the roachIn July, 2009, I took a course on digital illustration applied to the urban enviroment. The first assignment of that course was to create a character for stickers. So I thought of a cockroach, because they are every where in Lisbon and they represent the filth and dirtyness of the city. I thought I could use it to represent some of the worst sides of society. One of the stickers still remains where I left it.

Apart from being my most recent illustration, this work is one of my favourites because it came just the way I imagined it would and the client was even more satisfied than me, wich was really good! Most of all it was a lot of fun to do. I used different digital techniques with this project, I used different digital techniques with this project, making use of all my technical knowledge. Everything came out well, so it was very rewarding.

Amadora BD, 2010Amadora BD is the most famous comics festival in Portugal and also a very prestigious one in Europe. Ever since I was aware of this Festival and it’s contest for new artists that I’ve had the will to participate. This is year I finally had what I needed to deliver a propper job as I always want to, and entered the contest for the first time. I won 3rd place!

Graphic Design

Although my favourite craft is illustration, I also have spent some years working on graphic communication and design. I’ve created images for theatre plays and festivals, logotypes for associations and companies, flash websites, flash animations and some personal vectorial illustrations.I believe it helps me to keep my abilities versatile and meet diferent styles for diferent needs.
