stantly for faster, more precise processing and a 24-cubic-foot tub thatcan accommodate large and smallparts alike. ALMCO's new energyefficient SBB design features laborsaving, automatic separation ofpartsfrom the abrasive media, at predetermined intervals according tofinishing requirements. Its separating screen surface is longer thanother round-bowl designs, whichpermits faster separation of partsand machine unloading. The SBB-24can lift and move many differentparts over the separating dam without jamming or hitting each otheron the screen. Plus, the tub, with a linch-thick polyurethane lining thatprotects parts, can also serve as athru-feed or one-pass machine, adding to the unit's versatility, whenthe dam is held in the up position.
A key benefit of the spiral design isits up-hill tub bottom, which provides a larger rolling mass right tothe screen area. This allows largerparts to be lifted up the dam andover the screening area. Larger partscan be processed in the tub becauseof greater clearance between thescreen and tub bottom.

NICKEL PLATING TECHNOLOGYCoventya, Inc., a specialty chemicalcompany that manufactures andmarkets processes for the metal finishing and water treatment industries, introduces the CRYSTAL 301Process, the newest addition to itsline ofdecorative nickel plating technologies. The distinguishing feature
of the CRYSTAL 301 Process is theuse of Leveler Technology assistedwith Index to provide a process thatexhibits superior brightness and leveling. Along with superior brightness and leveling, the processexhibits unequalled bright throwingpower (low current density), whileexhibiting superior deposit ductilityand tolerance to metallic contamination. This process is a "perfect fit" forthose installations that are processing a variety of work, ranging fromexterior automotive trim, includingaluminum wheels and POP, tostampings and wire goods. For more information, please call(216) 351-1500 or [email protected].
OSCILLATING ABRASION TESTERPaul N. Gardner Co. offers theModel 6160, which is based on theoscillating sand tester. The instrument, which replaces Model 6100, is
used to mea-sure the relative resistance or susceptibility ofa material tosurface abrasion and scratchingcaused by an oscillating abrasivemedia. The specimens are mountedin a holder located in the bottom ofa tray, which is filled to a uniformdepth with a standardized abrasivemedia. The tray reciprocates in aback-and-forth motion, which causes the entire mass of the abrasivemedia to shift. With the optionalBayer Test Kit, the Model 6160 candetermine the abrasion resistance ofophthalmic lenses. Applications ofthe Bayer Test include transparentmaterials and coatings.
The new design of the OscillatingAbrasion Tester allows for increasedoperating stability. The speed rangehas remained 100-200 cycles perminute but the range of strokelengths have increased; there is nowan adjustable range from 0.25-6.0inches (6.5-152.5mm). The Model6160 includes: specimen tray withsquare specimen holder; 4/10 silicaabrasive media (50 lb); spirit bubblelevel; specimen spacers (set of8); disposable tray cover; specimenremoval tool; 6-inch rule; powercords; mounting hardware; andoperating instructions.
